Principal's Corner; Ms. Sonya Pitcock

Cougar Families,

Our year is continuing smoothly and we are already almost to the end of the first 6 weeks. Our athletic teams have started games with a great opening to their seasons. Our cheerleaders look great supporting our teams. We have had Newsies Musical auditions and have cast over 80 students in the musical. Fine arts sectionals, accelerated instruction tutoring, MAP testing, content tutoring and clubs have all started as well! We are rockin’ and rollin’ and are very excited to see so many students involved in so many things!

Fall Pictures went well and, hopefully, everyone had the opportunity to order pictures digitally. We will have picture retakes on Friday, September 23 for anyone who was absent or who’s picture didn’t turn out well.

The CMS Yearbook is now on sale to pre-order for the lowest price of the year. The sale ends on 9/16 so don’t miss out! Order here > https://jostensyearbooks.com/?REF=A01019894

Our STEAM field trips are coming up, with 8th graders going September 28-30 and 7th graders going October 5-7. More details will be shared closer to the dates of the field trip.

Have a wonderful week,

Sonya Pitcock

Counselor’s Corner

7th grade – Counseling has been doing quick ‘minute meetings’ with our 7th graders. This is just a way to get to know our 7th graders as they are all new to our campus this year. The survey is just some questions regarding the transition to middle school and a brief informal introduction, 1 on 1 or in smaller groups, with their alpha counselor.

8th grade - In accordance with House Bill 1386 (Suicide Prevention Education), Curtis Middle School 8th graders will view "SOS: Get into the Act" refresher video this week during their Tracks classes on either 9/14 or 9/15. This video reviews information they viewed last year and encourages students to act when they become aware of a friend struggling with depression or suicidal ideation.

Questions about the video may be directed to the Curtis Middle school Counselors page

Counselor A-G - Loren Clanton

Counselor H-O - Crystal Wright

Counselor P-Z - Trebreh Benjamin
