A Message from Dr. Manola
Hello, everyone, and happy Friday! It has been another interesting and unique few weeks, and here we are, heading into late November, Thanksgiving Break, and the final stretch of the semester. I think for many, wrapping up 2020 will bring with it many emotions, but perhaps an anticipated fresh start for the new year.
We are excited to join you today and share some information about many of the great things that have been taking place around East Leyden. As always, we appreciate you taking the time to read through our newsletter, and if you need anything at all, please reach out anytime.
It's been a busy month, full of uncertainties, new challenges, and continually changing information. Like we've been doing all year, though, our students, families, faculty, and staff continue to go above and beyond, and we know everyone will continue to do so no matter what the coming weeks and months bring.
All that said, most important to us is the health and safety of everyone at Leyden. While we want nothing more than to have all of our students back at school, we want to make sure everyone is safe and continue to closely monitor and provide as much information as possible.
While there is so much out of our control right now, one thing that we can control is gratitude. So, with that, I want to say thank you to all of our families at Leyden. We miss you so much and appreciate all you do. Thank you for being flexible, supportive, and going above and beyond for your students. For our students. We couldn't be more proud to have you part of the Leyden family.
To all of our families, stay well, and stay safe. We are in this together!
Best,
Dr. Dominic Manola, Principal

LATEST UPDATES
Given the latest updates from the Governor and Illinois moving to mitigation level III, we have made a few adjustments at Leyden that we wanted to share with you. These include:
- Open Campus access will be closed temporarily. Once we return to mitigation level II or better, we will quickly offer this program once again.
- While in mitigation level III, we have temporarily paused all in-person athletics and activities. Please look for more information from coaches and sponsors on what this means for students in these programs.
- Leyden will continue to offer food service both on campus and throughout the community as we have been doing. This will continue, no matter what!
PTC Follow Up
Thank you to all of our parents and guardians who took part in our Quarter 2 Parent-Teacher Conferences this past Tuesday. We had a great turnout, and the conversations were impactful and powerful. We appreciate you taking the time to meet with your students’ teachers and partner with us to help in their journey and success!
As a reminder, we will be holding conferences for both Quarter 3 and Quarter 4 as we did this semester. Look for more information as we get closer!
Trivia NIght & Spirit Week
Last evening, the Class of 2023 kicked off a month of spirit by hosting an “Office Trivia Night” virtually, where nearly 25 students took part! It was a great time, and our winner took home prizes!
In the coming weeks, we’ve love to have our students take part in these spirit events!
