I Make a Difference
This week's I Make a Difference recipient is Mollie Worden in our SECEP department. Last week's recipient, Millie Hernandez writes, "We are lucky to have her at LHS. She is such a generous person in her classroom and to all staff. Mollie loves and cares for her students and encourages them to be the best they can be. I am proud to work with Mollie. Congratulations Mollie – you really do make a difference!"
Katie Prunty is a 2005 Landstown graduate who is dealing with stomach cancer. There is a community yard sale on June 23rd at Courthouse Community United Methodist Church on PA Road to help Katie with her expenses..
Computer Password Changes
In the division's continuing effort to enhance network and data security, the Department of Technology will be modifying password policies that affect student, staff, non-employee, and School Board accounts. The changes will become effective July 1, 2018 and can be viewed in the recently released Principals' Packet memo on this topic.
One of the most significant password policy changes is related to the number of days before a new password will expire. Effective July 1, new and existing network passwords will expire 60 days from password creation date as opposed to the current 90-day password expiration policy. This will result in passwords expiring over the summer months when fewer of our students and staff are connected to our network and its resources.
Notable:
- The procedure to change your password on a Windows device attached to our network will not change. This policy merely reduces the number of days between required password changes.
- You can change your password at this link from any Internet connected device – whether at home or at work.
- Password change warnings will continue to occur beginning at 14 days prior to the expiration date when logging into a Windows device internally or when logging in from outside our network to resources such as www.vbcps.com, the Secure VPN (https://remote.vbcps.com), or Office 365.
Enroll Now in Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR).
Have you ever experienced a forgotten or expired password? How about being locked out of your account due to multiple unsuccessful login attempts? The solution to these common problems can be found with Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR). To enroll, follow the directions here. Once enrolled, you can resolve these common problems from any Internet connected device at this link and regain access to your account without the need for assistance.
June 18 Staff/Flex Work Day
All teachers and teacher assistants may work a flex schedule for the staff day June 18. You may begin working the extra time May 15 and keep a log of the time worked on your WISE timesheet. Please be sure to record this time in the "additional hours worked" column and total your time at the end of the pay period in order to help Terri as she must account for everybody's time.
Teacher assistants, ISS coordinators and library assistants may not work more than 40 hours in any one week. The time sheets will provide documentation to support the hours reported in WISE. The flex day applies only to the following group of employees:
- All teachers whose schedule ends June 18.
- Teacher assistants, ISS coordinators, and library media assistants.
- Security assistants are not eligible because of security needs of the building.
Eligible employees who do not choose to make use of the flex day and do not wish to report June 18 may choose to take personal reasons leave with approval of the building principal. All staff members who participate in graduation will be granted 3 hours of time towards this work day.
