The Rhythm of Learning in Nature
The Rhythm of Learning in Nature is an opportunity for like-minded educators to come together in place to experience nature, Reggio-inspiration and forest school practices. The Swan Lake Centre serves as the backdrop of this week of professional inquiry and it is this magical site that inspires the experience of place-based education in the spirit of John Dewey, David Orr, David Sobel and Ann Pelo. The week of professional learning will follow an emergent curriculum framework as we will invite both facilitators and participants to decide the direction of the learning and the focus of our professional inquiries in and with nature.
To set the stage for the learning, participants and faciliators will have the opportunity to observe, document and engage with a small group of children who will be taking part in a forest school program on-site. In addition, to the magical outdoor environment at Swan Lake, the indoors will include both a documentation studio and a Reggio-inspired learning space complete with an extensive library and samples of documentation.
