Girls Cross Country Has Best Ever Finish at State Meet
Hewitt-Trussville Girls Cross Country finished third in the AHSAA 7A State Meet on Saturday in Moulton. The third place finish was the highest team finish in the history of the Girls' program. Coach Anita Dobbs said, "I'm so proud of the girls' finish. It's the best in our history. They have worked hard all season toward this goal. The finishes were a great way to end our (Anita Dobbs and David Dobbs) Cross Country coaching careers after 30 years."
Maci Mills earned All-State honors as she placed 13th overall with a time of 19:57.01. Kylee Sisk finished 18th overall with a time of 20:22.88. Amelia Brady finished 23rd with a time of 20:40.06. Kinley Harris placed 31st overall with a time of 20:55.07. Avery Cahoon also had her score count for the team as she finished 44th with a time of 21:13.99.

Boys Cross Country Finishes 4th at State
Hewitt-Trussville Boys Cross Country ran well Saturday in the AHSAA 7A State Meet in Moulton. The Huskies finished fourth as a team marking the highest finish for the Boys' team since 2011. Head Coach David Dobbs said, "I could not be more proud of this group of guys. They were ready and gave their best today. This was the second-best finish in program history. Today our 2nd-6th place runners all set personal records. What a way to finish the season!"
Nathan Knox was the top HT finisher as he placed 18th with a time of 16:24.35. Mitchell Phillps also had a top-20 finish as he placed 19th with a time of 16:25.28. Aaron Himes finished 24th with a time of 16:36.19. Tristan Teer finished 30th with a time of 16:41.48. Blake Bailey finished 60th with a time of 17:24.11.

Football Falls in State Quarterfinals
Hewitt-Trussville Football finished the 2020 season with a 9-3 overall record and an appearance in the state quarterfinals. The Huskies have qualified for the postseason in six of the last seven seasons. HT has made it to the quarterfinal round in four of the last five seasons. Coach Josh Floyd has led the team to 56 wins over the last seven seasons. During that span, the Huskies are a combined 35-14 in Region play.
Congratulations to all the players, coaches, supporters, etc. on another outstanding season.

Girls Basketball Wins Home Opener
Hewitt-Trussville Girls Basketball improved to 3-0 on the season with a 53-22 win over McAdory Thursday night. The Huskies got off to a quick start and led 20-4 after the opening quarter. Londyn Johnson-Yates hit a pair of three-point shots in the first quarter. HT extended the lead to 34-8 at halftime. Amiya Payne scored 10 points in the second quarter and had 23 points for the game. April Hooks hit a pair of shots from beyond the arc and finished with eight points. Overall, seven Huskies scored on the night.
HT will be in action again on Tuesday as they visit Mortimer Jordan. Tip-off is scheduled for 6pm. Stay up to date with all Girls Basketball news and results at www.hthusies.com.

Bowling Rolls to Season-Opening Win
HT Bowling opened the 2020-2021 season with an impressive performance on Tuesday. The HT Girls defeated Shades Valley 1111-682. Taniya Horton led the Huskies with a 183. Anna Abney also had a solid game as she bowled a 172. The HT Boys topped Shades Valley 1498-739. David Davis led the Huskies with a 229. Hunter Kyle rolled a 189 for the winning team.
Hewitt-Trussville will host Gardendale on November 17 in the first Region match of the season. All home matches are played at SpareTime in Trussville. Be sure to follow Bowling news and results all season on www.hthuskies.com.

Swimming: Daily Mountain Eagle Classic Recap
HT Swimming traveled to Jasper for the Daily Mountain Eagle Classic on November 10. The HT Boys and HT Girls finished in 5th place in the team standings. Here are some highlights from the meet:

HTMS Boys Basketball at Home Thursday
The HTMS Boys Basketball teams will host Homewood on Thursday. The 8th Grade Boys will begin at 4:30pm and the 7th Grade Boys will start at 5:45pm. Tickets for the games can be purchased at the link below.
