A Message from your Principal, Mrs. Katie Johnson
Happy New Year Elizabeth Ide Families!
I hope you enjoyed the winter break and were able to spend time with your friends and family. We surprised our girls with a trip to Dominican Republic, where we spent a week relaxing, playing in the pool and on the beach, reading, and eating (a lot!). It was wonderful to have time away from the daily distractions to focus on one another and recenter ourselves on what matters most.
As I do every year, I start the new year with reflection. The past six months have brought a plethora of changes to my family - a new house, new community, new school for our girls, and new jobs for both myself and my husband. As I shared with the staff, change can evoke a wide range of emotions, from excitement and optimism to uncertainty and apprehension. It's important to acknowledge and validate these feelings as natural responses to the unknown. Embracing change often leads to growth and new opportunities, and by supporting each other through these transitions, we can navigate them with strength and resilience. With your support, our collective efforts have led to positive and impactful experiences for our students and one another. As we move forward, let's continue to support each other and work collaboratively to create a positive and nurturing learning environment for all.
We are thrilled to have our young learners back in the classroom Tuesday, January 9th. We look forward to diving into a new year filled with exciting learning experiences and meaningful connections. Together, we continue to do amazing things at Elizabeth Ide Elementary!
Thank you for your ongoing support of Elizabeth Ide and our staff, and thank you for believing in the work we do.
Respectfully,
Katie Johnson
Progress Reports
On January 12th, progress reports will be sent home with students who are not meeting grade level expectations. If you do not receive a progress report for your child, and would like to discuss your child's growth/progress, I encourage you reach out to your child's teacher directly. Open communication between home and school is essential in supporting students' academic progress, and the teacher will be more than happy to provide the necessary information and support. We are committed to working closely with families to ensure that every student's needs are addressed, and your proactive involvement is invaluable in this process.
2nd Graders: Intramural Floor Hockey
Intramural floor hockey is being offered for your child before school. If your child would like to attend, just show up! There is no need to sign up or any cost to you. These sessions will be from 6:55 until 7:30 AM. This is a great way for students to get some extra exercise in a slightly competitive setting. Your child can come on any morning that works for your family. Morning intramurals will run from January 10th - February 2nd -Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday only (12 Sessions). Any questions feel free to reach out to me at bkukulski@ccsd66.org.
Thank you,
Mr. Kukulski
