Schoolwork and Projects
Math: Currently we are on Unit 5 of math. Fractions and decimals are our main work. We will have a test on Thursday or Friday of next week. Please remind your kids to study!
Language Arts: We are currently working on our mystery story books. Our finished students are working on a mystery story project of their choice. These will be due on Monday, November 17. In writing, we are editing our football opinion pieces, and writing a summary of The Westing Game, which we are reading as a class. In GUM (Grammar, Usage, and Mechanics) we just completed Unit 1. Some of this was review of subject/predicate, but a lot was new. We learned about predicates, direct objects, and linking verbs. We learned to identify many different things that make up a sentence.
Science: We are working on chemical reactions in class. In STEM Lab, we are making structures to see which one can hold the most pennies. We are also doing a Science Fair Project.
Social Studies: We are reading about and working on the European trade routes and explorers. We are also researching Native Americans and their tribes. Next, we will study the European colonies. We just finished our Veterans Day presentations. It was fun and we learned a ton!

Veterans Day Program
Veterans Day was a success! Thank you to all our staff who helped prepare and set up the stage! We think everyone enjoyed the program and the breakfast feast! Our program was wonderful and the Veterans felt honored. God Bless America!
SHHHHH....IT'S A SURPRISE!
We would like to send our practicum student, Ms. Caldwell, off on the right foot! If you would like to SECRETLY donate school supplies that she can use for her own classroom, please send them in by Thursday, November 20. All supplies should be dropped off in Mrs. Dodson's class (behind her door). Remember: it's a surprise!!! Mrs. George will wrap them in a basket to give to her on her last day:)
