Lincoln did NOT end slavery

Many people believe that Abraham Lincoln ended slavery, but is that the truth? After going through intensive research, it can be concluded that Lincoln did not end slavery by himself; instead, there was a lot of help from the slaves themselves. They enlisted themselves into the Union Army and truly dedicated themselves to fight for their freedom. They made a huge impact in the war and some may even call their help, invaluable.

Who ended Slavery?

Although Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, slavery would not have ended without the aid of the slaves themselves. They fought with their whole heart in the efforts to gain freedom. Not to mention that many slaves achieve freedom without the help of Lincoln at all. Many slaves took the risk and escaped from their owners to gain freedom despite the consequences if they were to be caught. So the next time you're asked who freed the slaves, think about the slaves before you answer with "Abraham Lincoln."
