The Second Annual Delran STEM Fair, showcasing STEM Activities that have taken place throughout the school district and community in 2017-2018, was hosted at Delran High School last night. As part of Delran Township Schools inclusion in the NJ STEM Pathways Network, the schools are developing partnerships with higher education, community and business to build strength in K-12 STEM programming. The fair highlighted student and ecosystem partner display tables including: K-2 First Lego League Jr. “Aqua Adventure” displays, 3-5 Lego Education “Space Challenge” displays, 6-8 First Lego League “Hydro Dynamics” displays and demonstrations by the 9-12 VEX Robotics “In the Zone” competition robot. Schneider Electric collaborated with students from the DIS Green Team to share their knowledge about our Energy Savings Improvement Program, while Lockheed Martin had four interactives allowing problem solving by youngsters. In addition, the Delran Municipal Green Team, Eggsplorers Chicken Pilot and Tesla musical dance taught residents about the opportunities in sustainability and technology opportunities. Delran Township Police collected unused prescription medications and allowed children to explore their state of the art vehicles to see how law enforcement keeps up with 21st century skills. Food sales from Chic Fil A, Kona Water Ice and Pop Shop A Go Go were available. Sales of student driven programs included plants grown in the Greenhouse/Biotech facility, school store Bear Wear and handmade lotions from the Advanced Manufacturing and Chemical Engineering Club.
