Information for Seniors - Class of 2024
The 2024-2025 FAFSA is Now Available!
The 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now available periodically through a soft launch period. The FAFSA form is expected to be fully available later in January and February. All seniors applying for financial aid should complete the FAFSA as soon as possible. The Texas priority deadline to submit the FAFSA is March 15, 2024. Private and two-year institutions may have different deadlines. Check with the financial aid office at the college or career school you plan to attend. To apply, go to www.studentaid.gov.
As a reminder, each senior must complete ONE of the following graduation requirements:
Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); OR
Complete and submit a Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA); OR
Submit a signed opt-out form located in Skyward under Online Forms.
To upload proof of FAFSA completion, please take a screenshot of the confirmation email you receive after submitting the FAFSA and upload that to the Xello Assignment titled “Completed 2024-2025 FAFSA or TASFA Upload.”

Many seniors are relieved when they finally get their last college application submitted. However, the application process is not always over just yet! Some schools require students to submit a mid-year transcript at the close of the first semester before they will make a final admission decision. A mid-year transcript is a way for college admissions officers to check in on their applicants during their senior year.
AHS is still in the process of preparing mid-year transcripts. Once they become available, we will send out another email announcement with information on how to submit the mid-year request. We anticipate the transcripts will become available in early February.
Students should only request mid-year transcripts for schools that require a mid-year transcript. Students should check with the colleges they applied to and determine whether they require a mid-year transcript.
TSIA 2 Testing
Are you planning on attending a Texas public college? If so, you need to be identified as “college ready” to be placed in freshman-level college courses in math and English. There are a few ways to demonstrate college readiness:
Have an SAT Reading/Writing score of at least 480 and an SAT math score of at least 530.
Have an ACT combined score of 40 on the English and Reading (E+R) portions and an ACT score of 22 on the mathematics portion.
Earn college readiness scores on the TSIA 2.0.
What is the TSIA 2.0?
The TSI Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) was created by the state of Texas to help determine whether students are ready for freshman-level college courses in mathematics and English language arts and reading (ELAR).
High school graduates who do not meet one or more of the benchmarks on the TSIA 2.0, or who do not meet one of the TSI exemptions, are required to participate in developmental education course(s) prior to, or together with, enrollment in certain freshman-level college courses. This could increase the time and money spent in college. https://blog.texasoncourse.org/educator/when-to-take-the-tsi-assessment-2.0-and-why
Allen High School offers the TSIA 2.0 on March 19, 2024. The cost to participate in the TSIA 2.0 at AHS is $20. Registration is required.
Students will be notified of the testing location at a later date. Testers should arrive at their testing location by 8:50 AM on exam day. Students must present identification to be admitted to the test.
