The Siple Scoop
MAY 2022
A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Siple Families,
I have an outstanding team of educators. I proudly stand behind each and every one of them and know they provide an excellent education to every student that comes through Siple Elementary. I hope you will join me in recognizing my outstanding staff during Staff Appreciation Week May 2-6. We will celebrate not only classroom teachers, but also, secretaries, paraprofessionals, playground monitors, cooks, bus drivers, and custodians. Our PTO has planned a wonderful week filled with ways to celebrate this incredibly dedicated team.
I have included an article later in the newsletter on how you can join in the celebration. Your child can draw a picture or write a note as well. Each student will receive a Cardinal Note that they may choose to complete and return to the Siple Office as a way to express their appreciation to a Siple staff member. These are treasured gifts that my staff members love receiving.
If you would like to help with any of the special events planned by the PTO, please contact the PTO officers at siplePTO@gmail.com. Thank you for helping make Staff Appreciation Week a very special time for our staff members!

Career Lessons
The last week in May I will be presenting to students during their Library time about different Careers. It’s so important for students to see the variety of careers that exist in our society and each role is vital. That being said, I would love to have parents email pictures of themselves in their career choice (or at least in the clothing you wear for that career). Then, while sharing about the 6 different career pathways, I can have images to share with the students of Siple Parents making a difference in the world. Below are the 6 Career Pathways that will be discussed briefly and some examples within the field. Please know that the lists below are not exhaustive - just an idea of how careers can be categorized. If you find your career not listed but would like to share a picture I can add to the list.

FUN TO BE FIT
We are finishing up team games and activities. Hopefully the weather will start getting warmer for our next unit, Baseball and Kickball. We will learn some of the concepts and terms to Baseball and Kickball. The games are very similar so we will be able to transition right into either one.
Please look for field day information that will be coming out soon. We will be able to have parent volunteers this year so fill out the form and get it into as soon as possible.
Thank you.

5th Grade Band & Orchestra Recruitment:
Our Siple 4th graders have really enjoyed getting to see, hear, and even play some instruments from the Band and Orchestra within these past couple of weeks. If your child is interested in playing in the Band or Orchestra next year, please sign them up online through the email that was sent out a couple weeks ago OR have them return the paper copy of the sign-up letter that was given to them last week (return it to Mrs. Odglen). We would really like to have these sign-ups completed by the beginning of May so that our Hahn music staff can begin preparing for our Siple Stars that will be joining next year! Thank you so much!

STEM FUN
Hello Siple families,
It is hard to believe we are heading into the home stretch of this school year. We will work on a few projects for each grade level during the month of May that will be included as part of the end of the year report card grade.
The students have been turning in writing assignments and Google slide assignments as part of their grades and participation, so this is a continuation of learning for most students. We will also spend time working on computer coding skills, which are part of the report card.
Please contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns. You can easily reach me via email.
