Ms. Harris' Weekly Update
August 29-September 2
What's Going On This Week
Science: This week we are going to learn about qualitative and quantitative observations. Students will use this information, along with their process skills, to complete a lab on Friday. For this lab, students will need 1 apple. If they have any extra apples that they'd like to bring in for those who do not have one, we would greatly appreciate it.
Social Studies from Ms. Shipp: We are continuing to learn about the major Native American groups. Our Native American test will be on September 9th. Study guides will be given on this Thursday.
Ms. Thurston's ELA/Math: In math this week, we will continue learning about place value: comparing and rounding. In ELA, we will continue our Personal Narrative writing and continue to learn about strong reading habits.
Ms. Harris' ELA/Math: This week in math we are going to continue learning about place value relationships, as well as comparing and ordering numbers. Students will have activity menu to work on in class during the week as a culminating project.

In ELA, we will read out next Junior Great Books story, “Crow Call.” Students will take a test on it on Thursday in class. We will also continue learning about story elements and character traits. This week we will also start Word of the Day, which will reinforce root words, prefixes, and suffixes. I’ll be starting spelling after Labor Day.

Labor Day is Monday
There is no school on Monday for Labor Day. Enjoy the long 3-day weekend!
Here are two great videos we've been watching in class. One is for science and one is for ELA. I promised students I would send the links out so that they could listen to them at home. :)
