Will drought wipe out civilization as we know it?
What is Drought?
A drought is an extended time period with little or no rain.
In this article you will learn the basic and deep information about drought.
Some of the worst droughts have occurred in India, Africa, Australia, China, and America.
JUST THE FACTS
* Droughts are weather related.
* They occur in hot areas especially like the Sahel Desert.
*Drought can happen at any time randomly but in the United States a major one occurs about once every 20 years.
* Droughts occur when there is little or no rainfall for an extended period of time.
* When there is a drought the land will appear to be cracked. These cracks are called contraction cracks. plants will also be wilted.
* Droughts effect landforms by causing contraction cracks in the ground which happens because clay in the ground shrinks from loss of water.
* Drought affects habitats by killing off animals. This happens because all the water gets dried up which causes animals to get dehydrated and then starve because the herbivores won't have any plants to eat.
* Droughts can also cause wildfires to occur more often due to the dryness of the land.
