The Book Fair Starts Monday!
Hailey's Spring Book Fair will take place from Monday, April 17 to Thursday, April 20. Students are welcome to shop during their Specials times each day. Students can also shop during their lunch time if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Our family event will take place on Thursday, April 20 from 5:00-6:00—immediately before the Talent Show.
This year, we are also able to offer a great new way to shop at the book fair. Instead of sending cash or checks, parents can choose to set up an eWallet instead. Click here to watch a video that explains the process.
To preview the fair or to set up an eWallet, please visit our website at https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/hailey. If you are interested in volunteering to help at the book fair, please email Mrs. Puller at kpuller@conroeisd.net.

The funds are raised through The Woodlands Farmer's Market at Grogan's Mill.

Become a Library Volunteer!
The library is in need of parent volunteers to work one shift a week or one shift every other week. Library volunteers help check out books to students, return books to the shelves, and work on specials projects. Volunteering in the library is a great way to meet other parents and get involved with the school.
Morning Volunteer Shift 8:20 - 10:50 Classes include 1st grade, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade.
Afternoon Volunteer Shift 1:10 - 2:50 Classes include Kindergarten and 4th grade.
Pre-K volunteers work on an as needed basis.
If you are interested in volunteering in the library, please complete the Conroe ISD Volunteer Application at https://apps.conroeisd.net/volunteer/ and email Mrs. Puller at kpuller@conroeisd.net.

JOIN HAILEY PTA
It’s time for another exciting school year to begin and an important part of Hailey Elementary is our PTA! Anyone can join PTA; Moms, Dads, Grandparents, Guardians, Teachers, Community Members, and Siblings in grades 9-12.
Hailey PTA supports critical academic needs, is an active voice on decisions that impact your child’s health, safety and quality of education, and builds a stronger, more inclusive school community.
There is no wrong or right way to be involved – anything you can give, whether it’s time or money, will support your child’s potential. We invite you to join because we can do more together than apart.

Watch D.O.G.S. at Hailey
WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads Of Great Students) is a family and community engagement educational initiative. There are 2 primary goals of the WATCH D.O.G.S. program:
1. To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
2. To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.
We believe that all of us want the same things for our kids and these values unite us. This program serves to bring communities closer together based on these values-based goals. Ultimately, our purpose is to change the country for the better by doing our small part to provide support to our educators and encouragement to our children.
Follow the steps below to get started!
- Complete the CISD Volunteer Application.
- Contact Mrs. Dumlao to schedule a date to volunteer at mdumlao@conroeisd.net
- Optional: Order your official Watch DOG shirt at the Watch DOG store.
From the Clinic:
Breakfast is an important meal for growing children. Studies show that breakfast eaters tend to have higher school attendance, less tardiness and fewer hunger-induced stomach aches in the morning. Their overall test scores are higher, they concentrate better, solve problems more easily and have better muscle coordination. Children who eat breakfast also are more likely to maintain a healthy weight and get enough calcium, too. Whether your children eat at home or at school, be sure they eat a nutritious breakfast every day.
Whip Up a Quick and Easy Morning Meal
Start your child's day in a healthful direction with a balanced breakfast that incorporates a variety of nutrient-dense foods. Try some of these quick and easy options:
- Peanut butter spread on whole-grain toast
- Grits and eggs
- Porridge with ginger and cinnamon
- Iron-fortified cereal and milk or fortified non-dairy alternative with banana slices
- Instant oatmeal topped with chopped walnuts and sliced strawberries
- Smoothie including milk or fortified non-dairy alternative, spinach, frozen banana and nut butter
- Parfait with layers of yogurt, whole-grain granola and blueberries
- Make a Breakfast Bar
Let your kids build their own breakfast with a breakfast bar. Similar to a salad bar, a breakfast bar includes a variety of foods to mix and match. Little ones love to create unusual combinations by mixing, stacking and organizing ingredients. Will peanut butter glue the berries to a waffle? Or will yogurt smother nuts and fruit? No matter what nutritious combinations they create, they will love the sense of control a breakfast bar offers. Here are some ideas:
- Whole-grain cereals, waffles, tortillas, bread or English muffins
- Peanut butter
- Low-fat or fat-free yogurt
- Cottage cheese
- Olives
- Fig or apricot jam
- Variety of sliced fruit such as bananas strawberries, papaya or passionfruit
- Cooked apples or fruit compote
- Cheese slices
- Chopped nuts such as cashews or pistachios
- Raisins and dried cranberries
- Low-fat or fat-free milk
- Hard-boiled eggs
Jazz Up Cooked Cereal
For a great grain-filled breakfast, add flavor and nutrition to cooked cereals (instant or not), such as oatmeal, cream of wheat, grits, brown rice or whole-grain couscous.
- Use fruit juice — apple, orange or another 100% juice — or low-fat or fat-free milk as the cooking liquid.
- For cooked cereal, stir in chopped fruit (apple, peach, banana, kiwifruit), dried fruit (chopped apricots, papaya, dates, raisins, cranberries) or nuts and seeds.
- Add dry milk powder to cooked cereal to boost calcium.
- Liven it up with spices: cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice or cloves.
If eating breakfast at home simply isn't an option for your child, pack them a breakfast-to-go that they can eat on the bus or when they get to school. You will not only be encouraging your children to eat nutritiously but fueling their growing bodies and minds for success.
