Mrs. Clark's Class
First Grade 2013-2014
Here's a look into our first week of school!
Reader's Workshop
We spent a lot of time practicing rules and procedures for our Literacy stations. Here, you can see us practicing "Read to Self"--which is SILENT reading. We are building up our reading stamina and made it to 8 minutes! We also have begun discussing reading strategies. Ask your child about the 3 ways you can read a book!
Math
In Math, we've spent some time reviewing proper number writing formation and different ways we can represent numbers. We've also discussed graphs and add the word graph to our math word wall. Our definition of a graph is a "visual display of information". Here, you can see us graphing the ways we go home from school. Not only are we graphing the information, but we are learning to compare the data from our graphs!
Social Studies
Of course, we've spent a lot of time getting to know one another. It's been so much fun to learn more about each student. We've also discussed being kind, working together, and being a school family.
We are working hard and this is sure to be an awesome year!
Reminders: Parent Orientation is Tuesday, September 3 from 6:30-8:00. Hope to see you there.
