It's Spirit Week next week at PLA93!! Scholars can donate a canned good to participate all week. The dress up day schedule can be found below.

This week's community spotlight provides peer support and grief counseling to individuals ages 3-29. Learn more about "Brooke's Place" below.

Candy Grams are being sold until December 15th. Scholars are invited to send their friends, family, or teachers some "sweet cheer" before we leave for winter break. Candy Grams are $1.00 each and can be purchased in your student's classroom.

Parents are invited to complete our ESSER Survey below. The window closes on December 23, 2022. There is still time to provide your feedback on how you would like to see our federal dollars spent.

For those scholars participating in Scouts, the last den meeting of the semester will be on December 12th. Scouts will then pause during winter break. The next planned meeting for 2023 will be on January 30th.

Please be aware that as winter approaches we are at risk for severe weather. In the case that school must be delayed or canceled, you can expect the following:

1.) All of the major Indianapolis news stations will be notified to broadcast the cancelation or delay.

2.) You will receive an email and phone call from the school notifying you of the cancelation or delay.

3.) Scholars will be provided with work prior to or after the event to complete for an e-learning day.

We are kicking off a new Box Tops for Education leaderboard that is running 10/10/2022 through 12/21/2022.

The goal is to have your child's classroom be in first place on the Fall Leaderboard.

Here's how it works:

1. Buy Box Tops products and scan your receipt with the Box Tops app within 14 days of purchase.
2. After scanning your receipt, make sure Phalen Leadership Academies School 93 is your selected school in the app.
3. Tap on Give Credit to select your child's classroom. You can scroll down to add a note with your child's name or additional information on who should get credit.
4. The number of Box Tops earned with your receipt will be credited to the classroom you selected.
5. To see where your child's classroom stands on our leaderboard, open the Box Tops app, tap on the school card on the Home screen and check out Fall Leaderboard on the school dashboard.

Want to give credit for a digital or email receipt? Go into the Box Tops app, tap on the My Earnings button at the top of the screen and tap on the transaction you'd like to credit. Scroll past the list of products and tap on Give Credit at the bottom of the screen. Then, select your child's classroom.

Brooke’s Place provides peer support groups for young people ages 3 - 29, who have experienced the death of a significant person. Brooke’s Place also provides individual grief counseling for young people, and their adult caregivers, who are experiencing a death or are anticipating the death of someone significant. Therapy Services offers children, teens, and young adults the opportunity to work one on one with a mental health therapist.

Parents, we need your help. PLA93 has received money from the federal government and we would appreciate your input as to how you would like this money spent. ESSER is a stimulus and emergency COVID relief funding stream authorized as part of the CRRSA Act enacted on December 27, 2020. This additional funding stream is intended to help states and school districts safely reopen and sustain the safe operation of schools and address the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the nation’s students. We are working to hear the voice of our stakeholders when determining use of funds. The allocations are only designated for very specific areas.
