Great Work Our Students and Teachers Do in the Classroom
From the Desk of Mr. Brendan Welch--CJ Field Trip to Dedham District Court
On Wednesday, March 2, 2016, the Criminal Justice students from Blue Hills went to tour the Dedham District Court. The students had the opportunity to see all aspects of the court house and the different career paths the courts have to offer.
Students had a chance to meet and ask questions to Acting First Justice Honorable Michael J. Pomarole, Honorable James H. McGuinness, Clerk-Magistrate: Salvatore Paterna, Chief Probation Officer William J. Laubenstein, District Attorney: Christopher Meade, Court Officer: Steven Melchin, Defense Attorney: Tina Furey, and Westwood police officer Paul Toland. Each one explained their daily job descriptions and their personal experiences that led them to this career. This was very rewarding for students.
Our class was then invited by First Justice Honorable Michael J. Pomarole to observe live court proceedings. We finished the tour in the judge’s chamber and was introduced to Honorable James H. McGuinness for some last Q&A.
Special thanks to Shannon Pucci for setting up this field trip, and to all involved in helping our students see what occupations are in the legal pathway.
