School of Saint Mary FYI

October 29, 2021

Notes from Mrs. Maricle

1. Headphones: I would like to ask each student to bring their own pair of headphones/earbuds to keep here at school for sanitization purposes. We are going to provide each student a ziploc bag for them to store the headphones. If this is an issue for you, please let me know. I do not want it to be a burden on any family.

**Some classes have already done this so disregard if you have child in one of those classes.

2. Kindergarten for 2022-23: As a current family, we are opening up the kindergarten priority list to you first. See flyer below and fill out link asap.

3. School Pictures: If you would like your student to have a retake, please write retake on the packet that went home and return it to the office. Students will not be taken for a retake without the returned packet. Retakes are scheduled for Monday, November 8th.

4. Honor Roll: We have figured honor roll for our middle school students. If you see the students listed below, please congratulate them on this great accomplishment!

COVID-19 Updates

Updates are in BOLD.

Week of October 25th, 2021-

2 NEW student or staff positives (both in 4th grade)

7 NEW students or staff in quarantine (including positive cases)

*Note: These statistics are for PS-8th Grade.

We are beginning to open up our community some as the numbers of COVID are settling down. We have started outdoor activities with buddies and we are welcoming parents to All-School Mass that have a student participating in the leading of Mass.

COVID Testing: The Task Force has given approval for families to use either a PCR Test or a Molecular ID Test to return from quarantine. Saint Francis offers a free drive thru clinic that yields results in 24 hours.

Grace and Understanding: This is a gentle reminder that we need to be following in our Heavenly Father's footsteps in giving people grace and understanding during these difficult times with COVID. We field so many calls a day asking for guidance to ensure everyone is doing the right thing. Yes, COVID is real and scary, however, we also have students and staff suffering from seasonal allergies, head colds, pink eye, stomach bugs and various other ailments that could present as COVID. So much is unknown so we need to unite as a community to lift each other up each day and trust that each of us is doing their best for our school.

Note: We want families to be our partners in navigating school during a pandemic. If you have COVID comfort concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's homeroom teacher. We are doing our very best to make accommodations as we can.

The School of Saint Mary Health and Wellness Plan for 2021-22 is posted below. We want to remind everyone that we review data often and we are committed to our plan being a evolving document based on trends in our area.

Carline Updates

Starting Monday, we are moving back to the pre-covid drop off areas. All students can enter through the main door or the door by Mrs. Rocco's room after 7:45am for morning drop-off.

Just a reminder...the line closest to the rectory will be released first every day for the small carline.

  • Field Trips: This past week the students participated in their first field trip in almost two years. Middle school art and 3rd grade had a great time and a top notch learning experience. Due to the lack of bus drivers, we will likely be asking parents to drive on future field trips for grades 3-8. All drivers MUST complete Virtus training and have a valid background check. If you think you will likely be a volunteer on a future field trip and want to get Virtus taken care of, please contact Courtney Leonard at to get the process started.
