Lenski Weekly Update

August 26, 2022

From the Principal's Desk

Happy Friday!

We enjoyed having your young Superstars for their first full week of school! It was a great week to dive back into school routines and learning! We appreciate everyone who came to Back to School Night to learn more about what your student will experience this year. We are so appreciative of your support!

We will begin our Lenski Elementary Accountability meetings for the year on September 19th from 1:30-2:30pm. We welcome anyone who wants to learn more about our goals and initiatives for the year. Please click here to view our meeting dates throughout the year.

The LPS Stride is coming up! Click here to register. We hope to see all of our Lenski Families out on October 30th!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Warmly,

Jessica Slattery

LPS Portrait of a Graduate

At Back to School Night, a parent asked about character development for our students at Lenski. We shared the work that the district has done on what we call the Portrait of an LPS Graduate and how we integrate these ideas at school. We thought it would be great to share this information with you as we work to grow our LPS students for the future.

Our Garden gets an Update!

5th grade students that were in Ms.Kesselman and Ms. Warner’s class last year created a plan to turn our garden into a pollinating garden! With the help of Andrea Briney, Master Gardener, we now have a pollinating garden that supports Bees, Butterflies, and Bats. Thank you to everyone who donated and worked to make this possible!

FROM THE COUNSELOR

From the Counselor:

The beginning of the school year is a great time to establish new routines at home. This can help lower stress for children (and parents/guardians!). Here are some strategies to create a school-year routine. More Information

  1. Create a visual schedule of the day. Click here for some ideas! Morning Routine Checklist, Back to School Schedule Template

  2. Keep all school materials (Backpack, lunch boxes, etc.) in one place to make them easier to find.

  3. Pick out outfits the night before.

  4. Set up a homework time and location.

  5. Make time for connection! (Schedule 10 minutes to read a book together, turn the radio off in the car and chat about the day, eat breakfast together…or whatever works for your family!)
