Where to put our Headquarters?
Detroit metropolitan area VS. Dallas metropolitan area
Detroit-Dearborn-Livonia metropolitan area description
This metropolitan area is very well known for having been the home to some of the first American car companies. It is located in Southeastern Michigan and is made up of the city of Detroit and it's surrounding suburbs. This area also borders the Great lakes which offers many fun activities. It is a good area for a manufacturing plant because of it's large population, high amount of educated people, easy distribution, and economic growth rating.
Pros and Cons of Detroit-Dearborn-Livonia metropolitan area
Pros
- It is the 18th most populated metropolitan area in the United States with 4,296,611 people so there are plenty of people to sell product to and hire.
- 89.1% of the population has graduated high-school so there is a lot of skilled labor in the area.
- Because of the size of the city there are plenty of ways to ship goods out so distribution domestically and internationally should be relatively easy even though it is not near a coast
- Detroit had the second largest Real Domestic Product Growth in the United States from 2009 to 2013 so the economy would seem to be on an upward trend.
- There are not a lot of natural resources involved in making clothing nearby

Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metro area description
This metro area is one of the biggest in the United States and is still growing. The city was built on oil and Cotton Farming but it is now moving towards the service industry. It is located in North-Eastern Texas and is made up of Dallas and it's surrounding suburbs. I think this would be a good place to put a clothing manufacturing plant because of it's large population, high amount of educated people, easy product distribution, high GDP growth rating, and it's nearby natural resources relevant to making clothing.
Pros and Cons of Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington metro area
Pros
- It is the 9th most populated metro area in the United States with 6,954,003 people so there is a huge amount of people to sell product too as well as hire.
- 84.3 percent of the population has graduated high school so there is a very large amount of skilled labor in the area to hire.
- Not only is distribution easy because of the large size of the city. It is easy because there is a major port (the port of Houston) only 251 miles or 4 hours away. So distribution domestically is easy because of the large amount of shipping companies and post offices in the area but distribution internationally is easy for all of those reasons and the fact that a major port is nearby.
- Dallas had the largest GDP growth from 2009 to 2013 so it is likely that population will grow in the coming years.
- There is a lot of cotton farming in the area so you have some natural resources involved in making clothing nearby.
