ADL Charger News
April 27, 2020
From the Principal's Desk
I hope you were able to spend time last week taking care of yourselves in some way. Whether it was extra sleep, a long walk with a family member, or getting lost in a book or movie, I hope you found a way to refresh yourselves for the weeks ahead. As we dive into new learning this week, I wanted to share some additional updates about distance learning at ADL.
Engagement in Learning:
We expect every student to be actively engaged in distance learning. We have worked hard to connect every student with the tools needed to continue to access their education in these circumstances. Our teachers will continue to design and communicate accessible, engaging learning activities to support students in making academic growth each week. Students are expected to be responsible classroom members by engaging in the activities assigned and completing quality work to the greatest degree possible each week.
If you get stuck, are not sure how to get started, or need more support in getting a working routine in place, we are here for you. Please let us know if you need help.
Grading and Reporting:
We will not be using JumpRope to communicate learning progress to families for the remainder of this school year. Rather, teachers will continue to provide ongoing feedback for learning through various tools including personal messages, video conferencing, and exit tickets. At the end of the school year, families will receive a narrative report on their students' learning progress, work habits, and achievement of the learning goals for this period. This narrative, as well as the trimester 1 & 2 reports from Jump Rope, will be placed into students' educational records.
Parent & Student Feedback:
We are growing and learning through this experience alongside our students and families. I will be sending a brief survey to parents and students later this week to inform our continued planning.
Please reach out if you have any questions.
Thank you!
Jennifer Wood
