Salmon's Week 11 Update
November 14th-18th
Overview
Reading: We are reading The Man Who Named the Clouds as a nonfiction/expository text next week. This is based on the man named Luke Howard that named the different types of clouds during the early 1800's.
Science: We will begin Animal Adaptations and the needs of animals. This will be a quick unit with a very small quiz over the the key terms and ideas:
body coverings
camouflage
adaptations
mimicry
5 needs of animals: food, water, shelter, oxygen, and climate
Writing: We have started with great anticipation our expository reports on the National Parks. We have 7 parks we are researching and you will receive more information at Parent Teacher Conferences to help your child at home. One student was quoted saying, "I didn't know this would be so much fun!". Wow that says a lot about how fun it is to learn on iPads. Students will be research their assigned park, writing a paper that covers the history, location/climate, and the animals/landforms that you would find. In addition to the paper all students will be required to make a tri-fold presentation poster for this project. The following is an example:
