Happening tomorrow: DEA drug-take back event
The Sunnyvale Police Department is participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day next Saturday, Oct. 29.
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day reflects DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.
Halloween festivities at the Library
Head over to the Library tomorrow, Oct. 29 from 12 - 4 p.m. for a day of fun Halloween crafts! Swing by in your costume for a jump start on trick or treating, and make some holiday decorations you'll enjoy for years to come.
Town Council meeting recap
At the Oct. 24 Town Council meeting, two new employees were introduced. 1.) Jeff Stapleton was introduced as Sunnyvale Police Department's newest Police Officer. Welcome Officer Stapleton! 2.) Jake Reynolds was introduced as Sunnyvale Fire Rescue's newest Firefighter/Paramedic. Reynolds was previously employed by SFR, and we are happy to welcome him back.
During the Recognitions portion of the meeting, Chief Andrew Hawkes named Officer Miguel Portillo as Officer of the Quarter. Congratulations Officer Portillo on a job well done!
Lastly, Mayor Saji George issued a Proclamation, recognizing and declaring Nov. 7 - 11, 2022 as Municipal Court Week in the Town of Sunnyvale. Court Clerk Jennifer Patterson received the Proclamation from Mayor George, accompanied by Court Administrator Rachel Ramsey.

Sunnyvale's Salute to Veterans
Join us on the front lawn of Town Hall on Friday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. for Sunnyvale's Salute to Veterans.
The Town would like to honor as many Veterans as we can! If you're a Veteran, email your name, rank, and branch of service to publicrelations@townofsunnyvale.org if you would like to attend and be recognized.
Turkey Trot registration is open
Registration for the 2022 Fast and Furriest Turkey Trot opened this week! Head over to www.townofsunnyvale.org/turkeytrot to sign you and your family up for a Thanksgiving Day trot. The Turkey Trot is a FREE 5K and/or a 1-mile fun run; the race is not a chip-timed event.
T-shirts are also available for purchase. The link to order a shirt is found on the race registration site, or you can visit www.townofsunnyvale.org/order. Short sleeve shirts are $20 and long sleeve shirts are $25. All t-shirt proceeds benefit the Sunnyvale Animal Shelter.
*Important information regarding the 2023 Fast and Furriest Turkey Trot*
With each passing year, the Turkey Trot continues to grow. The Town of Sunnyvale is excited to announce that the 2023 Fast and Furriest Turkey Trot will be a chip-timed event. There will be a cost implemented for next year's Turkey Trot. At this time, that cost has not been determined, but it will cover the race and a shirt.Calendar of Events
