What's The Buzz?!?
Week of August 31
2 Weeks Down!
(A note about Mass: each week we will have music practice directly following mass followed by Adoration. Many of the parents will remain in the church for Adoration. Please remind your students to exit the church as reverently as they entered. Colleen will dismiss students by class for a more organized dismissal, beginning this week)
I would also like to thank Carly and Nicole for planning a fun night out for our faculty! Although I missed it this time, I heard from many that it was a great night. I am excited to see what else comes from the Sunshine Committee this year :)
A Google Drive Tip
1. You can edit documents that were created in Docs. To create a document in Doc go to your Drive, Click "New", and simply start typing. Anyone you share the Doc with is able to edit it. In addition you can edit this document at any time and your changes will be saved. Creating your lesson plans in Docs allows you to begin with a plan and then edit it as the week goes on. I will be able to see all of the changes that you make.
2. If you are a teacher who likes to keep the same format of your lesson plans from year to year and just update them, that's ok! You can simply open the word document where your lesson plans are and copy and paste them into Docs. Now, they are a working document!
3. You can also upload any word document to your docs. These documents will not be editable. You can upload them the same way you create a new doc: open your drive, click "New" and then click "upload file".
I will spend the first 5 or so minutes of your collaborative time this week working on this with all of you.

PLC's
This Week
- Our first fire drill will be tomorrow, Monday, August 31 at 10:00 am. Please take time during your homerooms to review with students fire drill procedures and exiting the building silently.
- Our first faculty meeting will be Tuesday, September 1 from 3:30-4:30 in the Upper Room. All full time teachers (including Music, Computer and Library) will need to attend.
- I appreciate your patience as we tested out the time clock on Friday. From here on out, only hourly employees (aides as well as cafeteria and custodial staff) and auxiliary personnel will need to clock in and out. All contracted teachers DO NOT need to clock in and out or sign in (this includes specials teachers). Aides please look for an individual email from me regarding your clock in/out procedures.
- All aides should accompany their students to special classes if the special occurs during your shift.
- This Wednesday, September 2, our 5th graders will watch a demonstration by Brian Campbell, our band director. Please have all students in the cafeteria by 9:25 am so that Brian can begin on time. Beginning Wednesday, September 9, Mr. Campbell will be in the building from 10am-11am to offer band to our 5-8 graders. Teachers please look for a schedule later in the week, from me, regarding which classes will attend which time slot. I am looking into the best times so that students aren't missing core classes.
- Many students have been asking me when clubs will begin. I will be speaking with them tomorrow at lunch and providing them with a proposal form. They will use to this form to have all clubs, activities, dress down days, etc. proposed and approved. I will share this form with you in an email.
5 minutes for Faith
As the year goes on we will all have that breaking point whether it be a parent email, a student who has made a poor choice, a colleague who simply seems to not understand your point, or a decision made by administration that seems unfair or unwarranted. Remember to pray about it first before you give your reaction. You are all too good at what you do to have anyone think anything less! Keep up the good work- I am SO HAPPY to be working with all of you!
