Union Adult Learning Center

August 2021

Back to school is a time to return to our routines and what we used to consider normalcy. While we know that the post-Covid world may look different than it did before, we know that we can work to make it a brighter world by helping build bridges, not barriers for our students. We are offering both in person and virtual options for our HSE and ESL classes. We are excited to partner with Goodwill Industries and TulsaWORKS Career Academy to provide work credentials to our ESL students, at no cost. And we are working to build stronger relationships with our community partners to ensure that our students have the greatest access to resources, should they need to utilize them. The twists and turns of 2020 are behind us, and it is time to start again fresh, in a new school year.

IELCE Work Certifications for ESL Students

Through our generous Integrated English Literacy & Civics Education grant, we are able to provide workplace certification training to our ESL students. We are continuing to grow our community partnership with Goodwill Industries and TulsaWORKS Career Academy, who deliver these trainings at no cost to our students. This year we will offer classes in computer skills, hospitality, and manufacturing. ESL students will be asked at enrollment if they are interested in obtaining any of the workplace certifications. Students who choose to earn the workplace certifications will be able to do so without losing their spot in our ESL classes. We are so excited to be able to offer these opportunities for our students to advance their careers.
