Summit Ridge Middle School November 2022
Learner Profile: Principled For the month of November, our school will be highlighting what it means to be a “Principled” student. As IB learners students are expected to act with integrity, honesty, and respect. In Advisement, all students will explore our Academic Honesty Policy to ensure they understand what is expected of them. To promote "Principled" learners at home, parents can allow their child to make decisions and discuss the impacts and or consequences of their decisions. Parents can also share and discuss key figures that they feel are principled. | The Community Project On October 5th and 6th we had our Community Project Kickoff. The Community Project focuses on community and service. The goal of the project is for students to explore needs in the local or global community and to implement service as an action. All Year 3 (8th Grade) students complete the project individually, or in small groups, in Advisement class. Students will be assessed on four objectives, investigating, planning, taking action, and reflecting. Students will engage in various skills such as critical thinking, creative thinking, collaboration, organization, and mindfulness. We will celebrate the completion of the projects on our SRMS Community Project Day April 20, 2023. | Hawk Wing Awards To celebrate the "Learner Profile" in action, Teachers award students with the Hawk Wing Awards which are given to students for exemplifying one or more of the ten attributes of the Learner Profile. Students will similarly get the opportunity to recognize Teachers and the SRMS staff for exemplifying the Learner Profile. |
