Week of May 25
Happy Summer
While this school year did not end as we had hoped - we enjoyed seeing everyone yesterday. We miss our kids so much! I cannot wait to be back in the building with our students again. As we get closer to August, we will communicate plans for the next school year through social media and email.
We are grateful for all the hours, the Zoom meetings and the patience with us as we navigated virtual learning. Thank you for partnering with us.
Thank you,
Megan Corns
Principal

Returning Library books and Guided Reading books
Please do not return workbooks. The workbooks are for students to keep.
Extended Student Supply Pick Up
Student supplies drive through pickup will be on May 26th and May 27th from 9:00-2:00. Supply bags will be placed under the awning in the front of the building, labeled with your student's name. There will be no staff members on duty. You will need to exit your vehicle to retrieve your student's bag. Access to the building is not allowed. Any supply bags left after 3:00 on May 28th will be discarded.
In case of bad weather, we will place the bags just outside of the front doors to the building. We are not responsible for any weather-related damage to the contents of the supply bags.
6th Six Weeks Report Cards
The 6th Six Weeks Report Cards are now available for review through Skyward Family Access. Please see the documents below for detailed instructions on how to view the current report in Family Access.
In addition, Progress reports for the 6th grading period are also available on Skyward Family Access today. Because of COVID-19 changes to the grading policy, your student may not have a grade posted because a grade has not been assigned by the teacher yet. Please contact your student’s teacher if you see any numerical grade posted that concerns you, including a zero.
Changes to the dress menu
The Red Oak ISD School Board heard and okayed recommendations for changes to the current student dress options at the May 18 Board Meeting during the Superintendent’s Report.
The Dress Menu, implemented in 2006-07, to give the district a positive and distinctive identity, and reflect the values of the schools and community. The guidelines state, “Dress and grooming standards should promote at atmosphere that is comfortable but not too casual, free from disruption, easily self-monitored so standards are met prior to the student coming to school.” It should also be easily enforced so as to not take away from instruction.
The changes are in addition to current guidelines of top and bottom choices which states clothing must be solid with no stripes, checks, lettering, wording, or designs. Also, no changes were made to hair or piercings, outerwear, or shoes – still closed-toed, closed-heel only.
SHIRTS
- Students will be allowed to wear solid t-shirts in maroon, white, or gray; t-shirts cannot have logos, emblems, graphics, or designs.
- Spirit shirts will continue to be allowed in maroon, white, and gray also; these must have Red Oak ISD logos, RO, Hawks, or artwork intended to promote school spirit or endorse an official school group or organization.
PANTS, SLACKS, SHORTS
- Students will be allowed to wear denim (jeans) in blue, black, or khaki; no frays or holes; no oversized or baggy clothing or clothing which exposes undergarments will be allowed.
- This expansion allows for an additional top selection, one that is less expensive than the collared polo shirts, and the denim/jeans option for all students.
“We heard from our students across the district and our Community Advisory Council that these minor additions will have a huge impact,” stated Superintendent Brenda Sanford. “Our high schoolers, especially our seniors, advocated for their younger peers, stating ‘Even though we won’t get the benefit, we want those coming back next fall to enjoy these options.’ I’ve been impressed by the maturity of our students to articulate not just what they desire but why – from easing the cost on their parents to being able to express their individuality.”
With the approval, the changes will be in effect when students return for the fall semester.
