Celebrate BJHS
September
Great Kick-Off!
We have had a tremendous kick-off to the 2021-2022 school year, and we owe that to YOU! Thank you to our staff, families, and community members who continuously work together to make BJHS such an amazing place for our students. We are excited about all the wonderful things happening on our campus this year!
What's Happening at BJHS?
It's Debatable...
Students in Mrs. Hancock's 6th grade ELAR class put their learning in action as they took to the podium for some friendly debates over topics such as, "XBOX vs. PS5," "Can Money Really Buy Happiness?" and "Should Students Take a Gap Year After High School?" Students learned about the format of a debate and spent the week researching either the affirmative or negative side of the topic as they worked in teams to make the best case against their opponents. They learned very quickly that any argument is not valid unless it can be supported with credible evidence, and one student reminded us that Google is NOT credible evidence! The students really came out of their shells and demonstrated extraordinary teamwork in this activity. Great job Mrs. Hancock!

Staff Shout-Out
This month's staff shout-out goes to 8th grade Math teacher, Mandy Menard! She is a team player who values building relationships with her students to meet them where they are. She sets the bar high for all students and encourages them to surpass those expectations through engaging, individualized instruction.
Mandy will be treated to her choice of lunch from Fausto's or Anita's, and she will get to display "Flash" the Super Cougar in her room all month. Thank you for all you do for our students, Mrs. Menard!
Cougar Character Awards
This year, we are on the lookout for students demonstrating outstanding character and leadership at BJHS. Each month, we will be handing out Cougar Character Awards to these students and recognizing them on our marquee and campus Facebook page. Congratulations to our September recipients! BJHS is Building Better Cougars!
Students of the Month
Our students of the month are being recognized for outstanding ELAR performance! Each student will be recognized on the marquee and get a Lunch Fast Pass to cut to the front of the line for the entire month of September!
