El Dorado Monday Memo
May 18th, 2020
#ToroFamily
And just like that there were 2 weeks and 3 days left. Anyone remember Friday the 13th, waaaayyy back in March?!? Seems like yesterday and also like, "that was this year?" We now all wear masks wherever we go and the handshake has become a thing of the past. I will continue to say just how proud and honored I am to get to work with all of you. The ways that you have embraced this change head-on, loved and supported our students and each other, all the while dealing with societal shifts and changes in your own lives. You all have done just what teachers do, anything and everything to support their students. It's in your blood, it's just what you do, you can't help it and for that, I feel very fortunate that I get to work with you all every day. Have a wonderful week and be sure to check below for some links and info. Feel free to share the info/links with your students as well.
District/Distance Learning Update:
Attached here is the most recent Distance Learning update from the district. Please be sure to check it out.
Grading Updates:
This is the last week before students will begin turning in their materials. We have put together this list of 3rd quarter and 4th quarter F/NC list. Please take a look at the students who have received both an F in 3rd Quarter and an NC. Those are the students we need to focus on connecting with as we wind down the year. Please let us know if you have any concerns or questions.
Student Awards:
As we discussed last week, each teacher will be given the opportunity to give 2 awards per class/period for students that will be mailed home. Please click here to access the form to submit your awards. If you have any questions let Megan Gemma know.

Learning Together
This Week in AVID
As the end of the school approaches, many of us are wondering how we will wrap up the school year as we shelter in place. Sadly, the class parties and field days are out of the question, which leaves us wondering how to reflect and celebrate with our students. DitchThatTextbook.com recently posted 30 ways to use Flipgrid and one that stood out to us was creating a class reflection (#19 on the list). They also mention other ways to create community. In addition, AVID provides a tip sheet for Flipgird on this resource page for teachers who are new to this platform.
