The Ecology Club, founded in 2014, is all about helping the environment improve. According to club vice president Grace Naylor, Eco Club members help by picking up the trash they see around the school, collecting bottles from teachers’ recycling bins, and organizing various service projects. With approximately 40 members, the club’s primary goal is to help the environment. According to Grace, the club is always open to accepting new members.
A Typical Social Studies Class for our Knights

- They are asked to shout out a couple "Good Things" going on in their lives
- Today, they handed in their "Newspaper Article" they wrote for homework on the Stock Market Crash of 1929.
- They then read the article - The Human Impact of the Great Depression
- Next, Gallery Walk around the class to write out what they "See", what they "Hear", what they "Smell", and what they "Feel" as the view four different 1930's photos
- Write a paper over the next two days on the human impact of the Great Depression and compare to life events of recent years.
2017 Graduation Medallion Contest Winner and Runner Up
International Baccalaureate (IB at Foothill)
The IB Candidates are currently in the midst of their foreign language oral assessments. The topics include cultural diversity, customs and traditions, health, leisure, science and technology.
First, the students see two previously unseen photographs with a title or caption related to a topic studied in class. They select one of the photographs and have fifteen minutes to prepare a brief presentation. During a recorded presentation, the students describe the photograph and relate it to the topic and culture. Next, a discussion with the teacher based on the presentation follows. This assessment represents 30% of the foreign language IB score.
AVID Visits Cal State San Marcos
Field trips, a celebration, and fall AVID registration - it’s been quite the busy month in AVID! AVID embarked on its spring college tour in March. This time, we visited Cal State San Marcos. Students toured the campus and dorms, dined in the student union, and heard from Foothill AVID Alumna Sarah Rosas as she shared her love of San Marcos and anthropology. A hidden gem among the Cal State campuses, San Marcos is a beautiful campus that inspired many of our students to apply for admission.

Special Olympics School Games 2017
"Foothill students attended the Special Olympics School Games 2017 at Rancho Santa Margarita High School on Monday. The students competed in 3 different athletic events: the 50 meter and 25 meter races as well as the softball throw. Students were paired with peers from RSMHS who helped our Knights to navigate the day and make it to their events at the right times. Foothill students had a blast at the event; they were treated to snacks, lunch , and even free health screenings. The Knights came home with some serious hardware, with many athletes earning silver and gold medals in their perspective events. As usual, FHS was represented with pride!"
