Principal's Message
Last week I joined with my Sudbury principal colleagues in presenting our respective School Improvement Plans and the relevant work, accomplishments and next steps in service of the ever-important goal of continuous school improvement. The Haynes School community has so much of which to be proud, and I was pleased to be able to share just a taste of the great things taking place at our school. I invite you to view the presentation available on-demand on SudburyTV. The Haynes presentation begins at minute 56:55.
Amidst all this great work, we continue to monitor the fluctuating COVID positivity rates around us. Last week's Superintendent Update shared the recommendation to consider masking when indoors. In addition, yesterday we erected our tents outside once again to create additional space for outdoor activities. Coupled with our robust testing system and weather that encourages us to keep our windows open, we are able to safely keep our kids in school. Working together to stay home when we're ill and engage in available testing, we have the best opportunity for a healthy, safe end of the year full of learning, playing and celebrating.
Sincerely,
Jeff LaBroad
Principal

Field Day Returns Next Friday
Haynes is excited to host the return of FIELD DAY next Friday, May 27. Students will engage in fun, cooperative and competitive activities led by parent volunteers and our staff.
Students should plan to bring a WATER BOTTLE and wear COMFORTABLE SHOES to engage in the activities. Students will eat lunch in the cafeteria as usual. Each grade will show its spirit with its own COLOR. Students are encouraged to come decked out from head to toe in their grade's color:
Kindergarten: Red
Grade 1: Orange
Grade 2: Yellow
Grade 3: Green
Grade 4: Blue
Grade 5: Purple
Welcome to Haynes!
School Supply Lists for 2022-23 Released
News from the Transportation Department
Update from the Food Service Department
When COVID started, the federal government created a national policy that allowed schools in the entire country to provide free meals for all students. As of now, it is likely that this national policy will end on June 30th. We hope this is not the case, but we want to be prepared and want to give all families time to prepare for this change.
What this means for SPS families is that next school year we may return to the traditional system, where students receive free, reduced-price, or full-price meals based upon income status. To ensure we can provide free or reduced-price meals to as many families as possible, we will need families to complete the household Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals in July 2022 for next school year. Please note that this does not affect the remainder of the current school year. We will continue to offer free breakfast and lunch to ALL students until this school year ends.
The most important thing that you can do to prepare for the start of school is to complete the 2022-2023 MA Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals, which will be available in July 2022 at the bottom of our Food Services webpage. We strongly encourage ALL families to submit this form as it is very important to the district’s records, and allows us to also waive fees, etc. for those who qualify.
In addition, please consider applying for SNAP, the federal nutrition program that provides eligible residents with monthly financial assistance to purchase groceries. While the 2022-2023 MA Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals is not available to complete until July, the application for SNAP is available now. More SNAP information can be found at gettingsnap.org.
The food and nutrition department at Sudbury Public Schools thanks you for your patience during this anticipated change and we understand the burden that this may place on many families. As always, we are grateful for the opportunity to provide nourishing and healthy meals to all Sudbury Public Schools students so please reach out to us with any questions or concerns.
