Caraway Principal's Newsletter
September 11, 2016
Thank you for joining us for Parent Orientation Night last Thursday. When the school-home partnership is strong it equals success for our students. We encourage you to find ways to be an active part of our school community. We ask that every parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, friend or neighbor join in on the fun at Caraway. Our goal this year is 3 for 30, volunteer just 3 times per year for 30 minutes. There are many ways you can be involved, click here for volunteer opportunities. Please also contact your child's teacher to find ways you can help in the classroom.
One of the most important ways you can support our school is by joining our PTA. The Caraway PTA supports many school activities such as paying for educational field trips and by providing financial resources to supplement and enrich our curriculum. If you are not already a member please consider joining today. Your membership and donations will go back to your child(ren) to support their learning experiences at Caraway. Also, the membership raffle for an iPAD mini is still going on. Click here to view the flyer.
Sincerely,
Katrina Bailey, Principal

Enrichment at Caraway
Round Rock ISD awarded $1.9 million in Innovative School Grants to 34 District campuses, challenging the winning schools to explore, enrich or design an exemplary model of innovation to serve students and the community. Caraway received $65,000 to go towards funding Caraway Academy, an enrichment opportunity embedded within the school day that takes students on adventures where they are provided learning opportunities for specific, self-selected enrichment. STEAM-based activities that extend beyond the traditional curriculum. In addition to weekly enrichment opportunities, all students at Caraway will have frequent access to our Innovation Lab, which will provide a safe space for students to create, invent, and engage in collaborative learning.
We have plans to launch this great opportunity in October. Please visit the Caraway Academy website to obtain more information and to view the enrichment blog. Here you will find ways that our parents and community can be involved.
A parent information session will be scheduled for later this semester as well. Be on the lookout for more information.

Caraway PTA's After School Clubs
There are many after-school clubs that are run by volunteer parents, like yourself. Many are free (like Math and Chess Club), while others, like Destination Imagination, have sponsors or are funded by the PTA by the PTA. Lego Robotics has a fee associated with it that allows it to run without PTA support. contact your club THIS WEEK to find out how to secure your spot. Visit our website for more information:
