Connecticut - Founded by Thomas Hooker in 1636, founded by a group of puritans.
Massachusetts - Founded by John Winthrop in 1630 for puritans.
New Hampshire - Founded by John Mason in 1623 (1679) to establish a fishing colony.

Most of the New England colonies were controlled by the crown. New Hampshire was at one time a proprietary colony. The economics of New England mainly consisted of ship building, mining, timber, and fishing.
