Kegonsa Family Newsletter
March 17, 2020
Dear Families,
I want to acknowledge and celebrate how truly remarkable our Kegonsa community is. Although we have always known that to be true, it has been proven again and again as we all respond to a rapidly changing world.
Over the course of the last few days you have shown consistent flexibility and responsiveness to a very fluid situation. If you had asked me a week ago if this were to be our new reality, I don't think I would have believed you. But all-in-all, this sad but necessary exodus from 1400 Vernon street to a virtual world has gone remarkably well thanks to all of your support.
We will begin full virtual instruction on Monday, March 30. As we regroup and look forward, I urge you to check your email often for updates, and communication from our educators. If you have questions, concerns, know that we are here for you. In short, we will figure out how we begin living apart together.
With deep admiration and gratitude,
Erin and the entire Kegonsa team

School work pick up times (all students have school work to be distributed for online learning)
School pick up times
At the following times and locations, families and/or students can pick up materials, technology, medications, and any other necessary items needed for extended school closure.
Tuesday, March 17 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday, March 18 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Procedure
Given current CDC recommendations around a gathering of 10 or more people we will reduce the risk by meeting you at your vehicles in the front-drive. We will remain within 6 feet of your vehicle except when we hand you the bag. Staff will radio inside the building and the staff will bring out the materials/meds (school nurse will deliver to your car) /tech that you have requested. Remember, if you have not yet requested tech you need to do so before distribution times (see below)
We have a skeletal group of staff working the distribution so please be patient. We will work as fast and efficiently as possible.
*Note: If you are truly unable to pick up materials because of constraints with your job or childcare, we may be able to deliver them. Talk with your child's teacher.
Technology pick up
We will provide technology assistance (hotspots and Chromebooks) to families.
Note: If there are multiple children in the family, the oldest student should pick up the hotspot.
Meal pick up (starting March 18)
Stoughton Schools are closed but will be providing families an opportunity to sign up free nutritious meals for children aged 18 and under at four locations. Parents/guardians who sign up will receive a prepackaged lunch for the current day and a prepackaged breakfast for the next day (students will receive both).
To request meals for your student(s), sign up below by 2:00 p.m. each day for the next day's meal. You may also submit for all days at once. These meals are FREE for all students regardless of free and reduced meal status.
Please note: this is a grab-and-go lunch -- you cannot eat at the school buildings.
When: Weekdays starting Wednesday, March 18 through Friday, April 3rd 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Where: At the main entrances of: Kegonsa Elementary, River Bluff Middle School, Stoughton High School, Bayview Heights (corner of Charles and Norman at the top of the hill).
