Covid Protocols for the 2021-2022 school year
As we prepare for the new school year we want to communicate our protocols as we prepare to move forward. At this time the plan is to make masks optional in all grades. This policy includes students, teachers and staff members. (Please note that the HT staff vaccination rate is 98%.) This decision was made after much thought and discussion with the health department. It is strongly recommended that children and staff that have not been vaccinated wear masks. It is not mandated. There will still be a possibility of a quarantine situation should a positive case occur with students who are not masked/vaccinated. We will have more information on this as we get closer to the start of the school year.
As we did last year we will continue to be flexible and will pivot if necessary. There will be the possibility of a temporary mask implementation during the cold/flu season. We know that masks are effective at preventing many other illnesses including strep and flu as we saw by our attendance records last school year. Our plan includes the continuation of the cleaning protocols put in place last school year including hand sanitizers and hand washing upon arrival and throughout the day. In grades where students are switching classes, desks will be cleaned in between switches.
Students will be returning to the lunch room this year with increased social distancing. We have purchased additional lunch tables to provide this spacing. We will also be using a new cleaning protocol in between lunch periods. We will be looking for volunteers to assist with cleaning. Lunch will return to normal other than the increase in tables and spacing. In addition to this, the spacing established in classrooms last school year will remain the same for this year.
Last year we learned that the most effective way to keep illness out of the building is to keep sick children home. We know this can be challenging with work schedules but we can not stress the importance of this to maintain a healthy learning environment for all.
We will continue to communicate information as we approach the beginning of the school year.
As always thank you for your support and dedication to Holy Trinity and Catholic education.
Best,
Mrs. Kuchta and Mr. Modzeleski
