HOUR OF CODE

During the month of December, our students participated in the Hour of Code. The Hour of Code is a global initiative to provide students with an introduction to computer science intended to demystify coding and show that anybody can learn the basics. Mrs. Cucci provided students with a variety of opportunities to code in the Media Center. In addition, the students had opportunities in their classrooms with plugged and unplugged activities in all areas of the curriculum. It was wonderful to see the students enjoying these activities.

Winter Reminders

The winter months bring colder and darker mornings, which can make it difficult to get started. It is important for children to start the day in a positive way. Starting your day five or ten minutes earlier may help make the difference. Keep in mind that children should use the entire Kiss & Drop Lane, even on cold or rainy days, to help the traffic flow in the morning. Our goal is for all students to be in their classrooms before the 8:05 late bell.

Also, please use extreme caution when navigating through the parking lot in the morning and afternoon. Keeping a safe speed and being mindful of others is important to ensure that everyone arrives and leaves campus safely.

Finally, be sure that children are dressed appropriately for the cold weather. Even when the temperatures dip a bit below freezing, children go outside for recess. The fresh air and time to run help to make the afternoons more productive. Hats, gloves, and a warm coat should be standard winter apparel. Please label all items with first and last names.
