Ms. Harris' Weekly Update
May 6th-10th
What's Going On This Week:
Mrs. Thurston, Leonard, and Uhlenhakes' ELA and Math: This week we will be reviewing all skills previously taught this year! We are also continuing our review on Opinion writing. We will also continue our novel studies and reading groups. Teachers will continue giving the end of year F&P reading tests over the next few weeks. This week in math we will finish Geometry by learning about Quadrilaterals and Symmetry. Our unit test in Geometry will be this week and cover all information in the Geometry unit.
Ms. Harris' GT ELA and Math: This week in ELA we will wrap up our poetry unit by learning about mood and tone. Students will also start sharing their Genius Hour projects and will work on their "Sign of the Beaver" novels. Chapters 1-8 of the novel with responses are due Wednesday. We will also be finishing up figurative language by talking about idioms. Students will then review opinion writing and TDA responses in preparation for their end of the year writing test. In math, we will review Geometry and our unit test will be on Wednesday. We will then start reviewing all math concepts from throughout the year.

Please Return Secret Star Notes For The Students By Wednesday
Our first state test starts next Friday, March 10th and I would love your help in creating something special for the students. Please complete a star for your child by May 8th.You can decorate it, add pictures, write a letter, whatever you think will help your child. I will lay these notes from you on their desks when they walk into the classroom before the first test is taken. I’ve seen in the past how well these little notes build confidence and have the students starting their tests with a smile.
If you would like a paper copy, I can send one home Thursday with your child in an envelope.
This is SECRET, so please don’t tell your child. They are always so stressed on the first day of testing, and this is great way to calm their nerves. Thank you so much for your help!!
