Soaring Over MDE

Red Ribbon Week Spirit Days
Dear Parents and Families:
Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way. Choosing their own books empowers
kids and inspires them to become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers. AND—as
always—every book they buy earns rewards for our school.
Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from Friday, November 4
through Thursday, November 10, for 1 hour after school in the MDE Library.
This year, say hello to eWallet—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up
eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet
so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy.
If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Online Book Fair. All orders ship
directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also
benefit our school.
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping:

The countdown to more Bookjoy is on! Catch you at the Fair!
Happy reading,

Parents & Guardians in Student Restrooms
Please remember that parents & guardians should not be accompanying students into the restrooms. We have had an uptick in guardians entering student restrooms before and after school. If you (as the adult) need to use the facilities, we have an adult restroom in the office.
Reading Eagles-Inchy Book Vending Machine
About the Program:
The eagle reading program is a school-wide reading incentive program that encourages students to meet and exceed their reading goals each month using Accelerated Reader. Our goal is to get kids reading and put great new books in students' hands using our book vending machine. Inchy is ready and can't wait to start dropping books. Please encourage your students to go and check out Inchy and see which book they want to earn!
Program will compile AR points earned per student at the end of each month.
TK-1st Grade will earn a token for minutes read in a month
Our first month will be from October 1-31, 2022
The first week of the following month, each class will receive an AR report and a bag of tokens, to pass out to their Eagle Readers.
The teacher will give those students a token to go to the book vending machine at snack or lunch recess and choose a free book!
