No School Tomorrow!

Don't forget there is no school tomorrow, May 1. Have a wonderful weekend and we will see you on Monday!

Art & Music Symposium - Thursday, May 14 6:00p - 8:00p

Our Art & Music Symposium - "A Celebration of the Arts!" - is fast approaching. Our students have been working very hard on their art and music. It is going to be a fun evening, so please invite your friends and family to join us.

In addition to our student performances, guitarist (and school neighbor) Gary Hutchison and singer/songwriter Alexandra Salamone will perform. The silent auction will include masterpieces by our students as well as pieces by area (adult) artists, including Mrs. Assadi and Mrs. Fancher. There will be some great pieces up for grabs!

This year's event will be at The Blue Lion Downtown - 101 N. 2nd Street. Parking is available at 2nd & "A" Streets. The event is free for everyone to attend. Wine & cheese will be served.

Wine-Pull Donations

To add some fun to our art and music event (and to raise money!), we'd like to do a wine-pull this year. Please consider purchasing and donating a bottle of wine with at least a $15 value. We need about 30-40 bottles total. We will sell tickets to "pull" or choose a bottle for $15. Anyone that buys a ticket will get a bottle of that value. However, there will be a few bottles in the mix with a higher value.

Upper Elementary - Announcement

Several people have inquired as to who will take over Upper Elementary with Mrs. Clayton's departure. We are excited to tell you that Mrs. Fancher is "movin' on up." Several members of our school staff visited with a variety of candidates. But, in the end, we all know, without a doubt, that Mrs. Fancher is the perfect person for the position.

She will spend six weeks this summer in Houston training for Upper Elementary and about five weeks next summer. The time commitment for Montessori training is huge. It's an indicator, not only of our teacher's commitment to providing the best education possible, but also of their dedication to their students.

This means, of course, that we are filling positions in Lower Elementary. Stay tuned for more announcements soon.

A Note From Mrs. Fancher......

Montessori Parents,

I know this semester seems to be one of big announcements. So, I hope you view my move to Upper Elementary with as much hope and excitement as I do. When I informed my husband of Mrs. Clayton's move, his first response was, "why don't you do it?" The more I reflected on it, the more I realized how well Upper Elementary and I would "fit." Mrs. Core jokingly referred to me as Goldilocks. I was in Primary for 8 years, Lower Elementary for 3 years, and "This one's just right!" I know I have a lot of work ahead of me and big to shoes to fill, but I'm certain this is right for me and the school. Thank you to all the families and staff for your support and faith in me.

Book Fair - Buy One, Get One - Starts Monday!

Our first ever BOGO book fair starts on Monday. The fair will be open during conferences next week, so take advantage of this opportunity to build your home library with Scholastic books. :-) Sales of $2,500 or more during the week equal 10% back to our school. We sold more than $4,000 in books in the winter, so we can do it!

Last Day of School Celebration - Friday, May 22

We are kicking things up a notch this year on the last day of school....

There are a few things to note:

1. Student Talent Show: We are bringing back the student talent show. Individual or group acts are welcome. There is a limit of one solo and one group talent per student. The logistical details (i.e. sound) are in process now. We'll have more information on that in the very near future. But, it's not too early for your child to start planning and practicing. To enter your child, text or call Jenny Chaffey at: (479) 353-5074. Please tell her their name, age, and talent!

2. Lunch: Lunch will be catered by Ralph's Pink Flamingo. If your child is enrolled in Lunch Bunch, their ticket is covered. Parents and other children not registered for Lunch Bunch will need to buy a ticket at $5/each. Reservations must by made by Friday, May 15 in order for us to have a proper head count. Ticket forms will go home next Friday. OR, you can send $5/person to school in an envelope labeled with "Last Day of School" and the names of those for whom you are buying a ticket. A vegetarian option will be available, so please indicate if you need a vegetarian dish.

Please make plans to join us that day for the fun and celebration! The talent show will begin at 10:00 a.m. with lunch to follow.

Conferences Next Week

If you've not yet scheduled your spring semester conference with your child's teacher, please do so. Remember children should attend the conference with their teacher. It is an opportunity for them to share with you their work.

Don't forget that Tuesday night Primary families will provide dinner for the staff. Thursday evening is elementary's turn! It's great if you can let Ms. Clamser know what you will bring, but it's not a requirement. Thank you for your help!
