Hansen Weekly Update
June 3, 2022
Hi Hansen Students, Parents, and Families!
For a short week, we had plenty of fun and excitement! The week started with our first grade friends enjoying their field trip to the Franklin Park Zoo, our fifth graders connecting with staff from the Galvin Middle School for a preview of what's to come in sixth grade, and we rounded out the week with an awesome field day yesterday! Thank you to Ms. O'Sullivan for her hours of planning and thoughtful execution that allowed for the day to run smoothly for our students! Thank you, as well, to all of the parent/guardian volunteers for your time and support. We could not do this without you!

Hansen School Picnic - June 15th!
On Wednesday, June 15th, from 5-8 PM at the Hansen, celebrate the end of another great year with fun, prize winning contests led by DJ Balthazar, silly photos in the photobooth, face painting by Color Me Funky, or a front seat view from a real Canton Fire Truck!
Try your luck at being selected the raffle winner of a new XBox or one of many other prizes like a free week for your family at Ponkapoag Civic, a $50 gift card to Elite Health & Fitness, 1 of 3 Katie Wood's children's journals (A Simple Seed of Growth, Gratitude, & Giggles), fun games and puzzles! Every non-perishable food donation earns you another chance at the raffle prizes!
Bring your dinner or buy yummy treats at one of three food trucks: Montilio's Pizzeria, the Chubby Chickpea, or Alden Park'ed. Enjoy dessert and snacks provided by CAPT with ice cream from our favorite Mike & Ants ice cream truck, cotton candy, & popcorn.
All are invited, and we hope to see you there!
STAR Parent Reports Going Home Today
Today, students brought home copies of the Spring STAR reports for parents/guardians. As you likely know, the STAR assessment is given in the Fall, Winter, and Spring, allowing staff to identify student strengths, areas for growth, and plan instruction and support for all students.
If you have any questions after reviewing your child's Spring STAR report, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or any member of administration.

Reminder: Summer Reading Information
Hi Canton families,
Here you will find a letter that explains our Elementary Summer Reading Program. Our program works in conjunction with the program offered through the Canton Public Library.
Also, here is a video that teachers will share with students to remind them about the importance of summer reading and to tell them about some of the fun happening this summer at the Canton Public Library.
If you are looking for book suggestions, please reach out to the wonderful librarians who are excited to recommend some of their favorite books by age group. Our goal is for families to read as much as they can, whenever they can, and wherever they can!
We can't wait to hear all about your summer reading plans!
Jackie Abrams
Pre-K-5 Humanities Coordinator
