Principal's Message

Wow, I am amazed at how fast this year has flown by as the final weeks of school are approaching quickly. Please keep your eye out for communication regarding our many upcoming events. Every grade level has an upcoming field trip, there will be celebrations, end of the year assemblies, our annual art show, field day and family BBQ.

This time of the year is very exciting and fun for staff and students, but can sometimes bring stress and uncertainty as students begin thinking about who their teacher will be next year, what room they will be in, and what they will do without their friends over the summer. As a staff we will work hard to support students, ease their transition to summer and next year, and set them up for success. I hope you enjoy the rest of this year with us.

3rd Grade Smarter Balanced Assessment

All third grade students began taking the new Smarter Balanced Assessment this week. Testing is scheduled to continue through May. You can help your student be prepared by making sure they get plenty of rest, are at school on time, and by giving them positive support and encouragement.

AVID Corner

This month in third grade we have been using two and three column notes. Students have been creating their own column titles to organize their thinking. When students create these personalized titles, they are able to learn in the way that makes the most sense to them. Using two and three column notes has helped our students prepare for state testing.

SES Website

We have been working very hard at keeping our school website up to date. We are also trying to be part of a "Greener" school community which simply means we are sending out information electronically rather than paper copies. Please start familiarizing yourself with our website. It has the yearly school calendar, events happening at school, field trips, closures, class supply lists, staff contact info, etc. We hope you enjoy it!

Registration for 2019-20

You have already received your child's registration form last month. Please make sure you have looked over it closely and made any necessary changes such as address, phone numbers, etc. It is also important to note any changes to your child's health. If we do not receive your child's registration form then they will not be registered for school next year. If you did not receive a registration form, please let your child's teacher know.

A new travel card will need to be filled out and collected during Open House Night which will be held towards the end of August. Check the school website later this summer for the date.

If you pre-ordered a yearbook for this year, they will be delivered to the school in June, and sent home with your student. We have ordered a few extra copies that we will sell on a first-come, first-serve basis. Thanks.
