Last year, several organizations donated new winter coats, hats, and gloves to our school. If you would like us to send any of these items home with your child, please let us know. We would like to get these items to our students before it gets cold.
We are very fortunate to be part of such a caring community and hope to be able to help pass along the kindness of others!

Monthly Lesson Recap: Career Lessons
Did you know Pennsylvania has Career Education and Work standards for students in grades K-12? November 15th through 19th, we celebrated career week in collaboration with the middle and high school! We had special announcements, career lessons, and our teachers talked about their career paths! This month, I visited library classes to complete SmartFutures career lessons with students in grades K-5. Students in grades K-3 completed an activity on interests, 4th grade completed an activity on interests and abilities, and 5th grade looked at the risks and rewards of entrepreneurship!
Students in grades 4-5 should complete one additional lesson of their choosing by January 1, 2022. Students access SmartFutures through their Clever portal and can complete the lesson anywhere they have internet access.
Each year, the faculty and staff at Blain Elementary School collect funds in order to support some of our students and their families during the holiday season. We know that every family wants to provide the “joy” of the holiday season to their children, but in some cases, financial reasons may impede that effort. This year, we were able to raise over $2000 to support Blain students and their families! Special thanks to Blain faculty and staff, Best Wrenches in Shermans Dale, Blain Zion UMC Women’s Fellowship, Triple D Towing and Hauling in Shermans Dale, Blain alumni, the 12 Women of Perry County, and Blain families. Thank you so much for everyone’s help and generosity; the holiday program would not be possible without you!
