Floetry With Mrs. Morrow
Students in Mrs. Morrow's class were rewriting their favorite songs using different variations of figurative language. Gavin M. Smith and Dylan Ditto became masterful, rhythmic rappers. Jessica Morrish reworked Britney Spears' "Toxic" with a Santa theme, and it was wonderful. Maya Alanis and Lorena Villareal created a parody about Mr. Holt moonlighting as a DJ, and Kendall Karg, Emma Clark, and Addison Lockhart wrote a rap about trends, complete with Gucci, Lulu Lemon, and Jandal references. Also, "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" was redone by two different groups-one song was about Mrs. Morrow.
Christmas Llama
In art class, they worked on creating art and sewing. Here's is Peyton's Christmas Llama that she is very excited to hang on her tree.

Lago Vista ended up losing by 5 points, 13 to 18, but they learned a lot from this game. Good job Lady Vikings.
The 8th grade A team also had a challenging game against the Lady Cougars. The Lady Cougars' tough defense and outside shooting caused some problems for the Lady Vikings early on in the game. However Lago was able to recover by turning the pressure up on their defense and rebounding to stretch to 21-10 at the half. The Lady Vikings fought hard to keep the lead, but Jarrell did not give up. The game ended with Lago winning 31 to 25. Great win, Vikings!

Meet Our Staff! All of our teachers at LVMS are amazing and we want you to get to know them a little bit better! Each week we will interview two staff members with some basic questions as well as some questions that were requested by students.
Bryan Rogers, PE Teacher
Where are you originally from?
I was born in Houston, Texas, but I was raised in Flatonia, TX, from the age of 12.
What led you to want to be a teacher?
How long have you been in education? I wanted to be a teacher because my teachers and coaches had such an incredible impact on my life. I wanted to share those experiences with other students, in hopes of positively impacting their lives as well. I have been in the educational field for 22 years now.
Tell us about your family.
I have 2 wonderful sons who bring me tons of joy. My oldest is an apprentice electrician and my youngest is attending Lago Vista High School as a Sophomore, this year.
What are your favorite hobbies?
My favorite hobbies include golf, watching football, and trivial computer games.
What was the first car you owned?
My first vehicle was a 1969 Dodge pick-up truck that was handed down to me by my grandmother. It had no air conditioning, no power steering, no power brakes, no power windows, and no radio...
What high school did you go to?
I attended Flatonia High School, in Flatonia, TX, and graduated in 1991.
What is your favorite sport and why?
As a child, my favorite sports to play were football and basketball. As an adult, my favorite sport to play is golf.
Tricia Sosa, 7th Grade Science/Advanced Debate
Where are you originally from?
I was born in Pennsylvania, but was raised in Spring, Texas north of the Houston area.
What led you to want to be a teacher? How long have you been in education?
I started out in education in 1995, as an academic advisor where I originally wanted to be a professor for a university. Later, I taught Child Development and Abnormal Child Psychology at the University of Houston and co-taught a graduate course in Leadership at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. When I was in my PhD program, I got pregnant and decided to be a stay-at-home-mom. Once, Nick was old enough for school, I started volunteering at Lago Vista Elementary. I then changed my focus to be a teacher rather than a professor. I taught science at the elementary and then was moved over to the middle school where I have taught Debate, Viking Valor, Tech 1, MythBusters, 8th Grade Math, Algebra, and 7th Science. I love teaching and love my students.
Tell us about your family.
I have an awesome husband, JR whom I met at the University of Houston-Clear Lake and we have a fantastic son in 7th grade, Nick Sosa.
What are your favorite hobbies?
I love hanging out with my family. We play foosball, tennis, basketball, ride bikes, bbq, travel, sail and go to the lake. I also enjoy listening to music, watching movies, and reading.
What was your favorite cartoon as a kid?
My favorite cartoon is very difficult, because there were several: Looney Toons (Bugs Bunny, Marvin the Martian), Mighty Mouse, and Underdog.
Is science actually your favorite subject?
Yes, science is my favorite.
What has been your most favorite science experiment ever?
I do not just have one experiment, because I love labs! Some of the favorites are doing ice candles, electromagnets, homopolar motors, the potato cannon, density, rain cloud in a bottle, osmosis experiment (dissolving egg shells), rockets, and etc. I could go on and on, because I get really excited with labs and experiments!!!
