Winner of two Irish Book Awards and British Book Award finalist, has been filmed by Miramax / Disney directed by Mark Herman.
In Spain it has been awarded the Reader Award 2007 of the magazine Qué Leer and managed to stay more than a year in all bestseller lists

An important family whose fhater is a soldier of Hitler was happy in Berlin. One day the family have to move to the country because the father's work.
Children, Bruno and Gretel didn't want to move, but it was necessary.
Children and mother didn't know about the place of the new house. The news house was near a extermination camps of Jews.
Bruno was to be the better explorator of the world, so secretly he used to go to the field and looked at the other side of the fence.
He met a new friend called Shmuel and they used to speak by the fence.
One day Bruno wanted to go play with Shmuel in the other side of the fence, so he dressed in striped pijamas to enter.
It was the end of Bruno and Shmuel.
Bruno's parents couldn't arrive in time to stop the execution of the crowd, including Bruno and Shmuel.
