Linn County Basketball Tournament - PHS
This week we will be hosting the Linn County Basketball Tournament at PHS. We begin on Tuesday, November 5 at 5:00 pm We hope to see you there!
End of Semester
We are approaching the end of the first semester for our staff and students. We have 18 more days of learning before the semester ends and students have 13 more days to improve their grade if they are behind.
Semester exams will take place on December 19 and December 20 for most students, some teachers may begin on December 18. It is important that students are in attendance during semester exams, there are no exemptions in the first semester.
For many students this time of year is where their attendance declines, they struggle to get up in the morning - this is where we need our parents help, students struggle to close out their semester when they aren't at school!
STUCO Food Drive
Students will begin collecting food pantry items to "block their classroom door" in order to be released early on Dec. 20th after semester exams are completed.
Each seminar classroom should have a paper door hanging up in their classroom. Once a seminar class has covered their paper door and there isn't any paper visible, they can call Mrs. Wendy Conley for a door check. This can happen BEFORE the Dec. 19th deadline. If confirmed, then the seminar has reached the goal and will be released early, at 1:00 p.m., on Dec. 20th to start their break early. The final door checks will take place on Dec. 19th so that we can announce our seminars that will be released early that afternoon.
Any seminars that do not meet their goal by the 19th, will remain at school on Dec. 20th until the regular 3:30 p.m. school release time and do an activity with Mrs. Conley and a few other staff members in the cafeteria.
Semester Exam Schedule - 12/19 and 12/20
IMPACT REFERRAL OF THE WEEK
To: Shiloh Skipper
From: Mr. Roudybush
I was not feeling well and a group went to the art museum in Kansas City. While there, Shiloh emailed me a picture of a famous Monet painting. She really made my day. She is a good example for us to follow.
Policy Reminder: Spectator Expectations at Events
As we ramp up basketball season, we just want to remind everyone of the expectations of spectators at events. Basketball is a physical and high-intensity sport, tensions can run high. We want all of our athletes and Blu-Jay fans to be able to enjoy the game!
From the PHS Student/Family Handbook:
Parent/Adult/Spectator Expectations at Events: In order to ensure a safe and orderly environment in which our students can maximize their educational and social development, the following regulations are enacted with respect to the conduct of adult visitors:
1. Access to extracurricular locker rooms, meeting rooms, school transportation, and the like is strictly limited to students involved in extracurricular activities, sponsors/coaches, and administrators. Access by all others is prohibited by the Board of Education. Failure to comply with this policy will result in a suspension of the individual from extracurricular activities and/or school premises.
2. Verbally aggressive behavior, which would include, but not be limited to, threats, intimidation, and profanity, will result in limited access to school premises and school activities for up to one (1) year. The length of the restriction will be determined by the administration.
3. Physical or violent behavior will result in a ban by the Board of Education from school premises and activities and will be referred to law enforcement.
4. Failures to comply with the restricted access provided in these regulations will result in the filing of civil and/or criminal charges.
