ACADEMIC DECATHLON (9TH-12TH GRADE) AND PENTATHLON (6TH-8TH GRADE)
Thank you to all who were able to attend the information session for the Academic Decathlon and Pentathlon information sessions. Below are the links to the Parent and Student info sessions that were held. It was great to see the enthusiasm for new students and parents wanting to learn about the programs.
The Interest survey is also a great way for families to get a preview of the material over the summer and have a "jump-start" for the school year as we send information over the summer. We have an amazing response so far, and the program is continuing to grow - which is great news. For all of the schools, there is a response of 74 families in just three weeks.
If you have any information please contact me at marisa.samuel.acadec@gmail.com or your local area coach.

Returning library materials? Please keep in mind:
Parents should still have access to their old library system accounts. By logging into your account, you should be able to see which items are checked out to your child(ren).
If you are unable to access your old library account, please feel free to call the school and speak with a Library Specialist, who can check to see if any items are still checked out to your family.
There is no need to separate enrichment and library materials when returning them to the library.
There is no need to add library materials to students’ inventory sheets when returning them to the library. Each library item has an asset tag on it, which our librarians will use to check it in.
Thank you very much for your help with getting those items returned!

Homeschooling Advice
Homeschool Learning Spaces: Displaying Children's Work
"No matter what stage of your homeschool adventure you are in, an area for displaying student work is something your whole family will benefit from in multiple ways.
student encouragement
personalized praise
motivation
nurturing a growth mindset
simple and cost-effective decorations
When you include a space in your classroom for displaying students' work, you are saying to the world, "Look at this wonderful thing my child did! I am so proud." Your child can bask in the unspoken affirmations you are providing when you hang up something they created with their own two hands.
Nurturing a Growth Mindset Through Praise
A growth mindset refers to the belief that traits such as intelligence or talent are changeable traits capable of evolving and growing. Alternatively, a fixed mindset refers to the belief that we are born with certain talents and nothing we do will greatly change those abilities.
Raising children with a growth mindset takes intentional effort on the part of the parents, but the results are worthwhile! Children who have a growth mindset prove themselves capable of overcoming obstacles throughout their entire lives."
