Q1.What evidence did Alfred Wegener use to support his theory of continitial drift?
Q2. Why do you think people didn't belive the continental drift theory when Wegener explained it?
Q3. Who were the two scientist that brought forth supporting evidence to Wegener's theory? What was their evidince?
Q4. What are the three types of plate bounderies?
Convergent: 2 techtonic plates colliding into eachother.
Divergent: 2 techtonic plates separating from eachother.
Transform: 2 tectonic plates sliding against eachother.
Q5. What types of movements can occur between plates and what features can form from this type of movement?
A Divergent boundary is we're 2 plates separate and form new land.
A Transform boundary is we're 2 plates slide against each other and most likely cause Earthqakes.
Q6. Give a specific example of a location on Earth where each type of plate boundary is present.
Divergent: the oceanic Nazca Plate.
Convergent: the Indian and Euraisian plates.
Transform: the Pacific Plate and the North American plate.
Q7. What do plate tectonics and trenches have in common?
Q8. How old are the rocks off the East Coast of North America in relation to the rocks right along the Mid-Atlantic ridge?
Q9. Why do you think this is the case?
Q10. What is a convection current?
{-----------------------------------------------------------> picture}
Q11. What are the seven major plate boundaries?
Q12. What are two bad events that can happen as a direct result of plate tectonics?
1. An Earthquake could happen. {Caused from transform boundaries}
2. The Earth's crust could start forming on top of eachother which forms mountains. {Caused from Convergent boundaries}
Q13. How did plate tectonics cause these events?
Q14. What are three good things plate tectonics do for humans?
1. The land sort of like grows, so that means we can make something out of that land and we can get resources for where the ocean used to be.
2. We are losing parts of our ocean.
3. Sometimes it keeps scientists busy which in that case, we learn more about how our Earth woks and we learn more about it.
Q15. How do plate tectonics cause these good events?
