April 2021 Newsletter

Dear SLHS Families,

As we approach the 4th quarter, we hope your families are healthy, safe and found a routine. The SLHS Staffulty are impressed with students responses, much of which is due to our supportive families. We want to thank all of you for your feedback, suggestions and support. I hope you were able to enjoy our virtual musical, “Oklahoma” last weekend. It was outstanding!

3rd Quarter Grades

Friday, March 26th is the last day of the 3rd quarter and grades are available on SchoolTool on March 31st. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s grades, please contact their teacher(s). If you have not logged onto SchoolTool, I encourage you to do so. You may contact Mrs. Diana Schwartz in the main office (891-4450) or for instructions if you are unsure how to do so. SchoolTool affords you the opportunity to not only look at current grades but also monitor your child’s attendance and assignments.

The Next Five Weeks (April 12-May 14th)

If you are planning to CHANGE your child's status to in-person for the next five weeks, please email me ( by April 11th. Any fully-remote student who is failing one or more classes or who has been absent from more than 10% of the required attendance days to date will be required to return to in-person (hybrid) learning, and must continue in-person instruction for at least the next five weeks. These students/families will be informed the week of April 12th-16th.

A note from the primary care provider is required if the student or a member of the student’s immediate household has an underlying health condition making a return to in-person (hybrid) learning a health risk.

Paraprofessional Appreciation Day

On April 7th, we honor and recognize our paraprofessional educators, who may also be known as teaching assistants or teacher's aides. Paraprofessionals perform a variety of teacher-related jobs and assist students in and out of the classroom. Thank you to the following paraprofessionals at the HS: Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Ash, Mr. Carpenter, Ms. Munn, Mr. O’Brien, Mrs. Olson, Mrs. Perrino, Mrs. Toishi, Mr. Vennie-Vollrath, Mrs. Viscardo & Mrs. Wood. You are so appreciated.

The deadline for scholarship applications is Thursday, April 15th. Scholarship descriptions, applications and the SIS form are posted on the SLHS website. If you have questions, please email Mrs. Bell, Mr. Simmons or Mrs. Schwartz.

Administrative Professionals Day

April 21st is Administrative Professionals Day. This day recognizes and celebrates the hard work of secretaries, administrative assistants and other office professionals for their contributions. The SLHS is so lucky to have three amazing women who keep the school running smoothly. Thank you Mrs. Barker, Mrs. McHugh and Mrs. Schwartz! Their hard work, thoughtfulness and dedication are appreciated, not only on this day, but all year.

I hope your families have a restful and relaxing Spring Break. Please visit the SLHS website to stay up to date on school activities, assignments and important dates.
