Letter for our Principal
Jacobson-Buddies are back in Action!
After nearly 2 years being absent, we are bringing Cross-age buddies back… better than ever!
Relationships:
A successful buddies program lets our students know they are capable of showing care and of building relationships with their buddy partners. It provides the motivation for the students to create similar relationships with other students, family members and adults throughout the school community. This program creates intentional caring relationships ~ students might hear us say, “Lets all be nice to each other,” or “It’s not nice to pick on others,” and they may even repeat these norms, while simultaneously having neither the skills nor the motivation to act on them. Students need REAL opportunities to practice helping and caring for others and to experience being part of a community BUILT upon these values.
Redefining the Dynamics of Older and Younger:
What if young students could experience their older schoolmates as a kind, approachable and trustworthy? What if older students could feel that it is not only respectable but also “cool” to be caring and responsible? The buddies program helps students of all ages feel like they belong to peer groups that value kindness, collaboration, fairness, and empathy.

Welcome back to Lunch with your student!
Starting in October, when the weather is cooler, Fridays will be days that families can come have lunch with their child, if they wish. Many of our families are excited to come to campus to eat with their child once again. We are happy to offer this to our community once again. School lunch lasts 40 minutes for each grade level and our students eat the first 20 minutes. The following is when each of our classes have lunch! Feel free to have lunch with your child in the designated family-section in the east courtyard on picnic tables. Parents will not eat with their child’s class, inside. A shady picnic area will be provided for each family!
- Kindergarten: 10:50-11:10
- Fifth grade: 11:05-11:25
- First grade: 11:20-11:40
- Fourth grade: 11:35-11:55
- JGP: 11:35-11:55
- 2nd grade: 11:50-12:10
- Third grade: 12:05-12:25
- Sixth grade: 12:30-12:50
Lunch-On-the-Lawn is BACK!!!
We are excited to host our wonderful families to picnic with their child for Lunch on the Lawn. Lunch on the Lawn is a dedicated day where students eat picnic style in our courtyards and families may come to eat with their child. Most families bring lunch for their child IF they are attending, as we only have 20 minutes to eat and then 20 minutes for recess. We also will have the Bogle Jazz Band playing for our enjoyment and they are amazing! Our first Lunch on the Lawn is:

A special thank you goes out to three fourth grader JETS who are flying with Pride!
Jackson Whitton, William Armstrong and Aubrey Welker volunteered to raise and lower the flag each day for the school.
Each year Hamilton ROTC cadets train our older students to learn proper flag etiquette and how to raise and lower the flag daily. Until our school training date, these JETS have taken on the job and do a beautiful job honoring the flag each day.

A special note from Mrs. Lockett
"I grew up in Iowa. But in AZ we stop class and watch it rain. But oh that thunder!"

CUSD Food and Nutrition
Jacobson Parents,
We are making some changes to our dining program to enhance the dining experience for your student(s).
In addition to offering hot or cold breakfasts ($2.00) and lunches ($3.00) daily, we are expanding our A La Carte menu. In addition to their breakfast or lunch, students will be able to purchase water, milk, juice, chips, cookies, and fruit snacks. Please note that items are subject to availability and not every cafeteria will offer every product. We recommend contacting your cafeteria manager to find out what is available for your student.
Students may bring cash with them or use money from their account to purchase snacks. As always, we ask that you visit www.myschoolbucks.com to keep up with your student’s lunch money account. You may also visit www.cusdnutrition.com to find up to date menus and more.
Chips, Water, Cookies, and Fruit Snacks will be offered daily to our 1st – 6th grade (we will not offer A La Carte items to our Kindergartens). If you prefer not to have your student purchase from the A La Carte menu, please let us know. You can email me at leon.zulema@cusd80.com
Thank you
Have a healthy day
