Principal's Message
Dear Skyline Families,
As you may have already heard, Principal Aguirre has extended her leave until after the winter break. I'm excited that I will be able to support the Skyline students, staff and parents in her absence. Because of previous arrangements, I will not be here the week of November 26-30. Melissa will be covering so the continuity of support will continue. I am so enjoying getting to know the students. You all have helped to build a caring close-knit community.
If you have not already scheduled conferences with your child's teachers, please do so as soon as possible. Conferences are just a week away. I know that the teachers value the opportunity to meet with you in person to talk about your child's progress.
Have a Wonderful Three Day Weekend,
Allison Couch
Substitute Principal

Counselor's Corner
Hello Skyline families,
This year we are fortunate to have 3 parent members on our School Climate Team. At our latest meeting, we discussed ways that parents can help reinforce our school-wide expectations. When you are in the hallways of our school, please help kids remember to Be Safe by keeping their hands to themselves, Be Respectful by walking on the right and respecting other people’s space, Be Responsible by being in the hallway only with adult permission, and Be IB by being caring with their movements and comments. This year, we have a zero zone in the area around the office. You can set a great example for students by keeping hallway conversations outside the zero zone. Feel free to recognize positive behavior when you see it. It means a lot to get recognition from an adult for doing the right thing.
Have a wonderful week,
Amy Gervais

IB Corner
I am very lucky to be able to spend Friday through Sunday at the International Baccalaureate Organization, IBO, conference with Ms. Barten. Collaborating with educators from all over the United States is such a rewarding experience! I am looking forward to sharing all that I learn with the staff at Skyline and being here also shows me that our teachers are doing an amazing job for our students and the Skyline community!

Soup - Story - Celebration
Sponsored by the Safety and Place Based History Committees
Linnton Community Center
Join us for an evening of storytelling, art and soup as we celebrate the history of Linnton with art, music and storytelling. What was Linnton like for children in the early 1900's? Come hear of the adventures, challenges and mishaps of Linnton and its many hills.
Come share your ideas for the new banners on St. Helens Road. What images and worlds best describe our communities and how might we share that with people visiting our town? We'll have art materials to help you design an idea for highway banners as well as make signs for roads that pass through Forest Park and a contest for a Welcome to Linnton Billboard.
Please text 503-805-4680 if you can help with desserts or a crock pot of soup. Know a tale or a person who might share a story from long ago, please let us know so we can contact them.
